Just a reminder, the spoiler isn't legal until next year.... (not unless you run it WITH the wing) Somewhere around here I have the letter from my asking for clarification. But how much are you wanting for that thing Patrick?

Next year, well... They should have this in place:

DSP
Subaru
Impreza 1993-2001 (all)

I am on the list for nationals in DSP with some new goodies under the hood (ITB setup) and still praying for rain.

I don't think you have to worry about the spoiler thing since Pat is under the IT rules. And, I am not running this year.

So Jon, are you running the obx itb's?

If it rains both days, I think I'll regret not going.

Yea, the IT rules thing will be different, but the rim width/tire width thing pushed me away from that route. Doesn't matter though, I am pretty sure next year the DSP Impreza to have will be the 93 L w/2.5 RS drivetrain. (if that can even get the job done.)

I do have the OBX's on there - they are not made for the DOHC engine so we had to make adapter plates and had to cut the plenum and shorten it a tad. We are still working on part-throttle drivability but the full-throttle works just fine.

Jon theres a 93 l 5spd car in VA beach area on craigslist, she said she'll take $500. Just food for thought.

So, for those of you following along at home, Patrick and I are out here at nationals and will be carrying the Subaru banner in DSP. We are outgunned by the BMWs but there is still an interesting story between the two Subarus:

Patrick has his 2.5 RS built to SCCA Improved Touring specs - which means he gets to be a lot lighter and have a cage which provides stiffness... but.. he has to give up wide wheels (he must run stock-sized wheels, which means 245-width tires) and has to keep the stock intake manifold and no cold air intake.

So how will that line up with my near 100% build on my DSP Impreza? We shall see. I have 15x10s with the 175-tires and the ITB setup on the car putting down the most power I have to date.

So, the race-within-the race between the two Subaru prep directions should be a fun one.

So.. after taking the car to nationals, having way more horsepower than ever before, the car feeling perfect.. and ending up 6 seconds out of first and 4.2 seconds out of the trophies I am 100% certain the Impreza has no business in DSP.

I will be done with the car, but will probably write a letter for the 93-01 Impreza 2.5 to go into ESP as I think it fits a LOT better there.

Yeah...I figured you guys would be fighting an uphill battle. I believe the car can still battle with the E36's and E30's, but not the E46's (especially when they are fully built to the rules).

So Jon if you don't mind disclosing, how much power did you end up making?

It's hard to say exactly because we switched Dynos in the middle of the thing (Dyno Dynamics to a Mustang) but I know before we put the ITBs on we were putting down 163 on a Dynojet and we gained ~17 with the ITBs...

We still plan on putting it back on the same dynojet before it all comes apart but it could be as high as 180-ish on the Dynojet.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Bleh trophy. Did you see if Dressler put ITB's on his car?

I was very happy for Bleh, and I didn't see if Dressler put ITB's on his car.

Also: It's official effective January 1:

Quote:
Change Impreza listings in DSP to read as follows:
Subaru
Impreza (1993-2001) (all)
Impreza 2.5 (NOC)

Also remove from FSP:
Subaru
Impreza NOC
Now to write the letter to get it moved to ESP... (not that I will be there, the car has already started its trip back to stock.)

Oh, no way. But I still think I have the info that the advisory committee can use to put it in the right place, which is either ESP or maybe FSP if they have sped it up enough, but we will see.

For me, I won't be running my 2.5 RS in autocross after North Carolina State Championships. (and even there it will be in dumbed-down form.)

I'm just happy all the '93-'01 Imprezas are on the same line now. I agree ESP or FSP may be better fits considering how much faster DSP and FSP seem to have gotten in the last few years, but getting them all combined is definitely a step in the right direction.

yea, that was the first step and I had a lot of data for the SPAC when I was writing the letters. I do wish they had left the 01+ 2.5 on the same line because it opens up a gearbox choice that's better for autocross.

I have been watching DSP get faster and ESP stay roughly the same and I kept thinking that the GC/GM might be an ESP car but this year proved it.

In DSP I was 6 seconds out of first and 4 seconds out of the trophies. I was 15th of 21 cars.

Had I run ESP I would have been 2.2 seconds out of first and .4 out of the trophies and finished 14th of 29 cars.

1993 L + built 2.5 with all the fixens' and I think the lighter weight/low end grunt and throttle response plays well with the WRXs in ESP.

If it went to ESP would it be considered on the same line as WRX's and allow ud/bd so then you'd hace 93-01 imprezas with wrx drivetrain? dont they allow that with esp camaros and mustangs. I heard that a mid 90's mustang with a new 5.0 would be the ideal combo. But Im probably wrong about that.

No it wouldn't, and I don't think it should - that would be a bit too fast.

Here's a link to the 2013 solo rules:
http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...3%20Solo%20Rul es.pdf

What happened with the new Subaru DSP classing?

Subaru
Impreza (non-RS) (1993-2001)
Impreza (2.5L) (NOC)

They just moved the FSP imprezas up into DSP without any benefits. Were they really too fast for FSP?

Wow, that sucks. The November Fastrack has the change as:
Quote:
ITEM 25) Change Impreza listings in DSP:
Subaru
Impreza (1993-2001) (all)
Impreza 2.5 (NOC)
Also remove from FSP:
Subaru
Impreza NOC
I'm guessing/hoping it's a typo, because otherwise it's a spit in the face to '93-'01 Impreza owners.

Did anyone ever hear back as to why the 93-01 imprezas were not all put on the same line? As it sits, they just moved a nearly noncompetitive FSP car up to DSP with no other changes.
