It does help with turn in some. It's not a huge difference.

I confess to having used vector control. I began to notice weird little effects, particularly in big wide sweepers. The car juddered like the clutch was slipping, but the clutch was ok.

Now I shut off VC and force myself to do vector control...not perfect yet, but I'm faster and usually have more fun!

Figured I'd post another video for you guys. I've been regularly getting out now (done 5 events total so far). This was my best run from Saturday at an AAS event out at Crows Landing. Improved about 3 seconds from my initial run.

Those of you with 8.5” wheels I’m curious what tire size you run. 265/35-18? 275/35-18? Have been debating trading up to a 19 premium recaro package but wonder how much more tire you can fit.

I have the '18 perf. package. Currently running 265.35.18. My WRX autocross friend runs 275.35.18 with no issues, zero offset.
I have 7mm offset, plan to go to 275 next season.

Thanks for the reply... I’m currently on 255/40-17 but another 20mm of tire sure would be nice...haha... just need to wait and see what they end up song with DS next year. If all the other boost buggy’s come over it may be a mute point anyways.

The other boost buggies coming to DS is pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point.

The changes aren't confirmed yet but in a proposal status for comment. Here's the link to fastrack which is where they post any changes : https://www.scca.com/pages/fastrack-news Not sure what month the initial change was proposed but I think it was pretty early in the year.

Definitely turn everything off IMO. Even when autocrossing in very wet conditions. With the vectoring on, it will try to counteract vehicle dynamics that are required to get the car around an autocross course quickly. When everything is off, the car will be "freed" up and has the potential to set faster times.

So they'll put both STI and WRX in the same class?

Makes zero sense, 14% HP advantage there.

Several cars in that list with a hp advantage! WRX has been performing well in national events. That doesn't mean I agree with it! DS is becoming a catch all class. I wonder what sort of pax change is coming?

FA WRX vs STI probably doesn't have that big a gap if there is even one at all. Gearing works better on the WRX and it was way less turbo lag. Tire and weight are exactly the same. Luckily we have some really fast FA WRX drivers to compare against the competition. The one dry day at SoloNats between DS and the AWD BS cars was really freaking close. The Turbo Camaro is still going to be a beast though.

STI May have more HP but there is a decent weight penalty too... locally I’ve been pretty competitive with the Golf R and STIs in BS... it’s more the Focus RS id be worried about. I’m selfishly against the change since I finally upgraded to a 2017 competitive DS car from my 2012 WRX a year ago. BUT in the grand scheme of things I think it makes sense to have a class where the top boost buggies can go head to head.

I'm not concerned about STI's primarily because on most courses they are like a WRX, but with bad gearing. It's very likely that the Focus RS will match the Camaros and Type R's. I have never come across a well-prepared BS Golf R, but I don't see why they can't be right up there. On the dry day at Nationals. Camaros set the 3 fastest times and had 4 times in the top 10. Four of the top ten times were from Type R's. The remaining two were set by the same WRX (two-driver car). The fastest FRS/BRZ on the dry day was back in 13th for that day. I still think the strangest stat is that on the wet (i.e. monsoon) day, FRS/BRZ's had 13 of the top 22 times, while there were only 3 WRX's in the top twenty. Granted, tires played a big role, but as far as I could tell, the majority of the twins were on RE-71's and BFG's, just like the WRX's. Only a few non-Subaru's had Conti's on and they did quite well of course.

Not official yet. Just recommended for the BOD of SCCA to review. Speculation at this point.

Gotcha... although I think it’s much more than speculation as how many times do they overturn something that is recommended to the board?

So there were only about three WRX's running nationally this year anyway...so already pretty dead. As far as we are concerned though, you couldn't be more wrong. Jordan and I lobbied to have the new cars moved in to fill out the class. There is nothing there that we haven't run against previously. The fast FORS on the national circuit is a 2018 model with a front diff that won't move with the rest of them. The CTR and Camaro will continue to be the real threat and we proved again this year that we could run with them. The WRX was in the mix on day 2 at Nats. We'll be out again next year, hopefully the new cars will give us some competition. Was getting a little boring out there the past year in the class.

I hope you're right! I didn't catch that the 2018 FoRS wasn't included in the list to be moved. Any word about the 2019 Camaro Turbo 1LE?

Haven't heard anything. It's going to be a touch call either way.

What's the general preferred rear swaybar?

Trying a front bar now but I'm not a fan so far, also having fit issues with it (Superpro) and the endlinks cause Superpro put 10mm holes instead of 12mm holes in the bar.
