Exclamation Important UTEC announcement! Please read

It has been brought to our attention that over the last 4 weeks or so a fairly large number of UTEC have been shipped with an incorrect software version installed on them. All recent UTEC owners please take a few moments and verify which version of the software you have loaded onto your UTEC.

When looking at the home menu, the upper right hand will tell you which version of software your UTEC is running. The problem UTECs will display software version 3.1t.

If your UTEC is running 3.1t software you must update your software to the current 3.1 version immediately. The 3.1t software is used by our engineers in Australia to bench test some of the UTEC’s fueling functions and MAF hardware. It was never designed or intended to actually drive a car. It also renders any user tuning of the fuel map to be useless.

If you have version 3.1t please follow the update procedures at the following link
http://www.turboxs.com/utectuning.htm

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

It would've taken me weeks to figure out that fueling adjustments weren't having any effect...I dunno how much affect 0.1 adjustments are supposed to make.

Thanks Nathan

****, I got a 3.1t also! That explains why my EGTs always stayed the same when I made fueling adjustments! I'm going to load up the right version and start tuning from scratch again..

I did the software change this morning.. It was really easy. I had th etwo toggleson my board. So you just flip the one on the right to the "A" position and run the flash program and upload the new version. Took like 5minutes

I made 5 totally new maps, some of them are just copies of the first good one I made from the stg.2 map this morning but with altered boost levels, or a leaner fuel map for testing things like that.

I have a version 6 UTEC, and it comes with a different cover from that shown in the instructions. It was IMPOSSIBLE to tell which toggle was the 'flash' toggle with the UTEC on top of the ECU.

I tried the one on the bottom (as the UTEC sits on the ECU), which looked like the correct one from the picture in the instructions. That didn't work. So I tried the other one, and that one worked.

Nathan, the instructions may need some work for the new cover. Either that or make a little sticker with the labels for the two toggles so we can tell which is which without trying to peek in at the circuit board under the new, non-removable, cover.

Yeah I have the newer version as well (the one that came with the 3.1t software), and it was the toggle on the far side, or right side if your facing the UTEC reading the "TurboXS" sticker.

The newest version of the UTEC manual (V3.11) which has been on the website since 6/12/03 has the information you are looking for on page8. If you received a revision 6 board with a old 3.1 manual, I apologize. Please download the new manual for future reference.
