Default Sanding and polishing aluminum BBS STI Wheels?

Just out of curiosity, did anyone ever try stripping all the paint off of BBS Sti wheels and polishing the aluminum? I think it would look really good and may try it. Anyone ever attempted this?

Feel free to post pics!

I may try it on one wheel and see how hard it is. I'll probably wait till next winter tho when they're off the car. I'm going to paint them over the winter anyway so what's the worst that could happen?

i would strip alittle bit off one spoke and see how the aluminum looks underneath. the best thing would be that it is smooth enough, where you can take a die grinder with a buffing wheel on it and some rouge and buff it out. i have done alot of alu. polishing before. and usually you have to sand from usually 400 grit up to 2500. then polish for best resutls. but like i said if the alu. underneath the paint is smooth, then hitting it with a buffer with some white rouge will bring it right out. if not. gotta do the 400-2500. they would look awesome.

I've considered having my stock wheels polished (I know a guy that'd do it for like $50 a wheel), even though I'll probably be crucified for it.

Why would you be crucified for it? I think they'd look awesome

Subie owners generally have a problem with bling, and the stock BBS wheel has a lot of metal, trust me, it'd be very bling...lol.

Bare aluminum needs repolishing on a regular basis. I have a miata with a polished valve cover and diamond plate floor mats, I need to repolish every few months. This stuff called Flitz works really well, they have a buff ball that goes on any drill and a really good polishing cream. They say, "just Flitz it", seriosly, it really works.
