I trained a squirrel to subsist on a combination of hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, and nitrogren oxide. He's noisy, stuffed in there like that, but problem solved!

I haven't driven the car on course yet, but my codriver(s) did at an event where it rained, and they did really, really well - I think they said "don't change anything" and "we giggled like schoolgirls..."

Steve knows his stuff!

How long have you been running the Stranos FSB with stock suspension. It is a really bad idea. Just do a search for Stranos or Addco FSB and you will find that stock suspension + crappy endlink design + possible failure of the lower A arm mounting tab. Switch to the Whiteline bar or get coilovers. I ran mine 2 years of autocrosses with 12k/10k springs with no problems, but soft or stock spring guys have been breaking A arms.

Thought that was more of an issue with guys running R-comps, not street tires.

We have been running the Strano bar on our car for 2 seasons, and are on our second set of control arms. The bar is just a crappy design, and causes too much stress on the control arm tabs. I can't wait to get rid of it when we build up the car for STU after this season is over. Unfortunately, it does seem to work better with the stock springs/ohlins setup than the big whiteline bar that it replaced, so I hope that this set of control arms lasts until after Nationals... I guess I should keep another spare set on hand.

The bar is not a crappy design. Thomas Crapper did not design the bar, he designed the modern toilet.

Serously though, there is not a flaw in the design. It's simply that it WORKS very well at what it's supposed to do and the A-arms can't take the stress. If you remove the stress then the bar doesn't work. So, you are complaining that it works too well. The fact that the tabs break is no fault of the bar or Subaru's A-arm. You are using the A-arm with a non-Subaru spec bar with non-Subaru spec tires and driving in a parking lot like a maniac like the rest of us do. Poop happens. Don't blame the parts YOU added.

The main issue with the bar is the end link design. Using the right angle brackets to attach to the control arm tabs causes a lot of stress to the tab. The bushings also seem to quickly wear out, which can cause the bar to touch the right angle brackets, causing more stress.

After we broke the tabs, we picked up a new set of endlinks from Strano, which are physically longer, and alleviate the metal-to-metal contact issue with the bushings wear, but as a side effect, they put more twisting forces on the right angle brackets since they the connection is longer, requiring constant tightening of the bracket connection bolts. The bushings also look quite worn after running them for 1 month...

Anyway, no need to hijack this thread talking about the Strano bar.. read the long thread about all of the issues others have had.

The mounting tabs and shock loads from in binding are what cause the breakage. Even guys on street tires have broken the tabs with stock springs. It IS a crappy design and even when the problems were brought to Stranos they were very unresponsive and never came up with a fix. Many guys came up with better endlink designs and have had better luck with the bar.

alright currently i'm just running whiteline front and rear bars with kartboy endlinks and an cobb AP with a custom torque map that just plays with timing and doesn't touch boost.

my setup plans will be a bit compromised as the car also seeing rallycross duties in PA class so some components will be limited to be legal in each class. the 2 classes do mirror each other fairly well though.

I'm looking to add
group N bushings and mounts all the way around
springs- RCE "otherguy" black springs (ask my splitters why i can't lower the car )
struts i'm really torn on, for autocross i'd go ohlins fixed perch but the valving is all wrong for rallycross so i'm staying stock for now and checking into other options...although i feel there may be a setting on them i didn't get to try that could be *right* for playing in the dirtt as well
RCE camber plates that do not lower the car (although from what i've gathered these *may* not be needed as you can get a quality camber setup on the stock bolts)
burscher racing turboback with high flow squirrel
i have some subaru bucks laying around that i'll put towards some SPT lateral links/trailing arms (again i'd love to see SPT come up with an upgraded strut package for the 05 sti that is an improvement for dirt/gravel and tarmac but they is no catch up valving for those conditions)
rubber wise i like the 615's but the 01R's seem to really be living up to the buzz around them
