Post Questions About Headers and Cats

I had a few questions that you guys might be able to help me with.

So I upgraded to a Cat Back on my 2002 impreza outback sport a while back and now with my new sway bars needing more clearance in the front I though about getting new headers. And heck why not a new cat to finish things off.

But the issue is that I live in Colorado so some Carb laws have transfered here. I need the car for daily driving, so I found a CARB legal cat that has a 2 inch diameter. I assume that it would be a upgrade from whatever the factory cat is since its magnaflow brand. Hopefully something like that would work....

Then for the headers, I know that certain headers are illegal in states like california , maine and new york. But I have yet to find anything in colorado laws that specifically states that you cant change out your headers from stock. And places that make headers for my car say that they wont ship to those three states but dont mention anything about colorado. (Note). If I get new headers will I have to worry about a check engine light. Im not sure if im going to replace the cat at the same time. Probably going to do headers first. Im hoping to get something that bolts in with no major issue to the car.

I dont know a whole lot about it, any help is appreciated. Like what kind of headers would be good, EL or UEL. and would the magnaflow cat be a upgrade or would it still restrict like factory.

What do you mean that your "new sway bars need more clearance"?

What Magnaflow cat are you looking at?

UEL vs EL is mostly a matter of preference for how they sound.

New sway bars dont have enough of a bend in them to clear around the stock headers, so when the car idles it shakes a whole bunch inside.

I was looking at this cat from their websitehttps://www.magnaflow.com/products/4...ytic-converter

I like the way my car sounds now with just a catback but I guess I wouldnt mind a bit more oomf. Though I do like the idea of having more torque since the OBS version is a little slow.
