Default Cant decide on a friggin tire!

The time has come for new tires. I'm very indecisive, so I figured you guys could help me out.

I've read review after review after review and just cant decide.
I am looking for a summer tire, or high performance all season, going on stock rims. This is a mostly daily driver tire, so I would like it to be good in the rain. I would also prefer stiffer sidewalls.
I am gonna try some autox's this year, and would like a all around tire that can do that also. I mean, I know that I wont be getting a tire that's gonna dominate the track, but since I'm just starting out, I'm ok with that.

A few that I've considered are the Kumho Ecsta MX's, Ecsta ASX's, Hankook RS2's, Dunlop Sport Z1, Dunlop Sport Maxx and BFG G-force sport.

I was dead set on getting the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S's, but cant really spend that much money right now.
I guess I'm just trying to stay on the not insanely expensive side, like $100 or less per tire.

Fuzion ZRI decent tire. (tirerack $79) I've used 3 sets now (i drive alot, they usually last 30k miles or more) good dry grip, wet grip is pretty good too. It's not a super tire but close one for a budget. Has stiff sidewalls (my preferences) and kinda noisy after tread's past 50% (i don't mind, but my car is loud anyways)
autox's they get greasy though, but still good bang for the buck tire.

Or Falken azenis 615's or find someone selling re070 locally. <--these won't last as long, but will have alot of grip

All of these are a no no in snow...

Have you thought of the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S, last I checked they were $114 a tire.

scca members have a $100 rebate this summer on the Bridgestone potenza re-01r, 050 series, andone other iirc.

edit since ur in Mass, a sumemr tyre to got with ur winter set would be ideal. no need to consider the all season tyres.

I was in the same boat. I drive alot and could run through the 070 in 6 to 8 months. At the price those go for, I was looking for a longer lasting option. I knew I would give up performance but I am buying a set of dedicated wheels and tires for the fall auto-x season and need something to run on the street. I went with the FK452. I ran these during the spring season and they weren't to bad. They seem to be holding up pretty good as well. They do seem a bit soft but anything will after running the 070. We had some pretty good rain a while back and they handled it with no problem. I was looking at the RS2 and 615's but I was worried about the wet traction. Since I live in Phoenix, the roads get pretty greasy when it does rain and during monsoon we can get quite a bit. I decided I would run one of those on the dedicated set.

Anyway, that is my experience with the 452. Take it as you will.

By the way, I puchased these from vulcan tire online for under $500 with road hazard in 235/45-17. Had them mounted for $52.

Yeah I'm not worried about getting an all season tire, I would actually prefer a summer tire right now. Though the snow tires I have on still are holding up really well, suprisingly, I figure any summer tire would be better than those.

I have definetly considered the Goodyear Eagle F1, and also the F1 GSD3's. I had the GSD3's on my last car, and loved them, and my origional plan was to get them again, but I dont know why I decided not to.

I may end up going with the FK452's though, just because we stock them where I work, and wanted to get something from where I work so I can get them replaced easier (not having to order them through tire rack and wait and such, when we could have them in stock) if I had a blow out or anything. That and I get an employee discount.

Thanks for the replys everyone. This is helping me out a ton already.

I'll just say that I really enjoyed my set of 452's. They were awesome for a daily driven high performance tire and handled rain amazingly. I can't recall a single incident of hydroplaning. Oh, and they also handled my first autox very well.

Sumitomo HTZR III is under a $100 a tire and did well on tire rack's testing against the REO50s
I think you could get Nitto NeoGens for about a $100
Federal tires are cheap but I have no experience with them

I went with the Gforce sport for the price. They are not that great even for the price. I won't get them again.

I have the Exalto's on the Camry and Scirocco. The Exalto is not a performance tire but it is a nice passenger car tire.

I was looking at the Falken - Azenis RT-615 for $108 a piece at:
http://highperformancetire.com/produ...8&cat=0&page=1

also:
Falken - ZE-912 for $83 a piece.
http://highperformancetire.com/produ...cat=462&page=5

I'm looking at 17" tires myself and was deciding between these and the Kumho Ecsta MX's.

I've run the Falken Azenis Sports for four summers on 17" Rota SDR's and liked them and the stock rims with Conti Contact Extremes during the winter. It's a bit of an investment but worth it in my opinion.
