Hey guys, I should be taking ownership of my 2015 WRX in early May. In the meantime I have been searching for a wheel and tire combo to replace those hideous(to me) 17's.

For those of you that have your cars already what size of wheel/tire combo do you feel would complement the car? Looking for a semi aggressive set up but not interested in rolling any lips. Car will be lowered(mild) once someone offers a spring. I was hoping to run 18's in the 265/275 range. Think this is a possiblility? Any recomendations on rim size/offset??

thanks
Rick

So what do you think the largest wheel/tire that can be fit in without any other mods? Of the above wheels that you tried what was the best fit?

Thanks

Should fit fine with a 255 tire with no fender roll on 45 offset. Just by eye on the new STi there is still room for more tire, and they are 245s with 55 offset wheels. 255 with 45 offset will stick out 15mm farther than stock STi.

Offset means nothing without width.

hmmm not that i don't believe you i'm just a bit surprised by the coils and camber arms... I was hoping it had clearance to fit a 18 x 9.5 +38 without major work. Do you think a thinner tire like 245/35 - 235/35 would make a difference?

Of course a thinner tire would make a difference, that's why I mentioned a thinner tire in my post. With 45 offset it should fit just fine. (Again, just going by eye, I haven't measured or test fitted)

True ... I'm just thinking of a concave style rim and a 45 offset will kill the look.

Concave depends on the wheel, not the offset.

I personally have never seen a deep concave rim without a low offset ... doesn't mean it doesn't exist lol

I was thinking along the lines of the style and look of those rota grids in gold ...the ones above it I didn't define in my head as concave (which I can totally be off as far as my definition goes lol)

Lol no worries, I was merely using them as an example of wheel face changes based on offset.

Each pair has identical faces and different offsets .

So I am correct that the lower the offset the more sunken in the center of the rim is giving it a more concave look? If i were to purchase a rota grid with a 18x9.5 +45, +48 offset it would have the same face but totally different concave look than a 18x9.5 +38 or +35 offset. That was the point i was trying to make I guess i explained myself wrong.

No, same face is same face.

The first pictures I posted are an 18x9.5 +44 and +35 dpt.

The last two pictures of grids are 17x9 +25 and +42.

The 18" concave grids came in a few sizes, 18x9.5 +38, +35 and 18x10 +30 - all have the exact same face.

RavSpec could you please elaborate a little bit. Are you still saying that fender roll, coil overs and camber arms would be needed to run 18x9.5 +38? What tire size would you recommend with this wheel? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rick

RavSpec: How usable was the 18x10 +22's ? I'm considering a rim in exactly this size, but only if it's actually usable.

Was thinking 245/255 40/18s for rubber.

How is a 10" wheel "useable" if you're stretching tires?
