Tuned Stg 4 knock... Still...
Guys I've increases my AFR from the low 10's to high 10's and still get accasional knock. 1 out of 6 3rd gear runs and more 4th gear pulls give knock out of the blue. The boost is where it should be, the WB AFR's are right and steady...
I'm not sure if the timing is being pulled by the UTEC of if its real. Everything moves along around 20deg then it drops to 13.5 or 14.5 where the knock is. Please advise. Thanks - Xeve

Did you already have another thread going? I'd very highly suggest bumping that one.
If not, post logs, check spark plugs... |

Yes I did. I have tuned fuel and boost since. Should I add this thread to that one?
What the best way to post logs? Thanks! |

Trim your log txt file to the segment that you are interested in (in your case the knock event region, and the entire pull that includes the knock event). Then insert that text between Code tags in the advanced message dialog (click "Go Advanced" at bottom of the page).
If you are regularly seeing knock in the same load/rpm cells, the factory ECU will adjust, and short term, the UTEC will pull the amount of timing established in your parameter file. Comparer the actual logged timing in the cell in question with your target ignition values in your map. If you see a big difference (several degrees or more), I would say that the ECU has "learned" your knock sensitivity and is trying to adjust to it. If you look at your logs and see the timing pulled in the next couple lines (again, compared to your target ignition values), I would think that UTEC is pulling timing. My guess is that both the ECU and UTEC are pulling timing. You may try pulling 3-4 degrees of timing from the cells in question. Drive a while and confirm that the knock is gone. Don't mess with your fueling at this point. You may have to pull even more timing, perhaps another 2 degrees to get out of your knock events. Drive a while like this, or reset your ECU. Now you can adjust your fueling to your desired AFRs. Once you do that, deal with your timing, add advance until you see a bit of knock, and back off a degree or so. There you go. |

My mods are SR30 Turbo, Catless turbo-back, STI injectors, fuel pump, APS pod intake, UTEC and LC-1 WB for tuning. Other mods smaller mods (suspension, brakes, wheels, audio etc don't matter for the knock...)
I can come to Tampa why?! Xeve |
