Default Subaru and Toyota to Develop Sports Car

http://blog.wired.com/cars/2007/08/toyota-and-suba.html

Quote:
Officials from both companies are cagey about details. Here's what we know: it will be priced under $16,900. The engine will have a displacement of less than two liters. And it will appear under the Toyota brand. It should arrive in 2010. It's a good guess that it will use Subaru's all-wheel drive platform, but that it won't use that company's flat-four engine. Why? It would dilute Subaru's performance category. Toyota desperately needs an entry-level sports car. It ceased production of the MR-S this year due to poor sales. But with inexpensive roadsters coming from Dodge and Saturn, the new model will face plenty of competition when it arrives.
