problems with car in 4th and 5th gear help!!!
i thought i would ask for help from fellow texas i-club members before the dealer, seems the other day while going to work that i noticed after i shifted into 4th i got a little hesitation, it got worse after i shifted into 5th...can't explain really. just the car was jerking somewhat. this just started recently. and its only noticable in those gears and when under boost, it does fine when driven at a steady speed but floor it in 5th to pass and it goes but its not smooth, feels likr the it hesitating..mods, MRT/GFB dual vent BOV, injen intake, bpm gt turbo back exhaust and a MBC. i have removed the
MBC and set things back to original, took the intake off to check it looks fine and is hooked up ok, checked MAF screws and its on tight...any ideas? help is appreciated....chris

After all these mods you performed did you bother to reset the ECU so it can realearn the system again. Right now it seems as if the computer is trying to compensate for a faulty component.
try having the ecu reset. You could have a little better performance. |

Re: problems with car in 4th and 5th gear help!!!
id get rid of the intake and/or BOV.
aftermarket intakes can screw up the MAF calibration. BOVs can do the same, even dual vents if adjusted wrong. Quote:

problems.......
yes, i re-set the ECU each time i did a mod, also these mods have been on the car for awhile, also the BOV as no adjustments. the GFB BOV has a atmosphere vent and a line back through the intake like the factory setup, checked that seems no leaks, also why only in those gears? also it does not matter where i shift. if i run it hard from 1-3 you do not feel the hesitation, but once in 4th and on into 5th you feel the power is like off and on..just a enough to notice. if the intake throughs off the MAF why does a manufacture make the product? you would figure they would take that into account, but its been on the car awhile also. i am out of options going to have to take it in today...will see and thanx for the help/info.......

which, is, I feel, irresponsible , since its not exactly safe. If you didn't want advice, then dont ask. Its not a hard thing to put the stock intake/bov stuff back on if you have it. give it a try. it might be only in those gears, since you have more load, more boost, the state of the engine is very different. If the bov/intake are on the boderline of causing issues, the extra load may put the car over the edge. |

problems.....
thanx, will wait to see what the dealer finds out and let you know.
jmott, no i do not mine advice as long as you have something to add that might help, and yes i have the stock parts and they are going back on after i get the car back, but i have not seen anyone nor have i ever had an issue with any car i have owned that i put an intake on. they all ways worked very well. also the BOV is ment to help the turbo, the stock one sucks and made several runs with the stock before at certain shift points to see if the aftermarket BOV worked better and i noticed that the GFB BOV allowed the rpm's to stay up a little higher between shifts, i was not loosing as much rpm's betweens shifts. like i said will wait to see if the dealer finds...thanx |
