Temp guage readings WRX
On the WRX the water temp guage has 4 marks. bottom 2 middle and the top or hot mark. Notmal is close to the second mark.
Anybody know what these marks for the water temp map to in terms of actual temp for the middle 2 marks.

From the factory service manual: "When the coolant is at a normal operating temperature of approx. 70 to 100 C (158 to 212 F), the gauge's needle stays in the middle of the indication range ..."
Also, it looks like the low end goes out of range below 50C, and the high end goes out of range above 120C. I wouldn't assume a linear map, nor would I rely on the oem temp gauge to provide accurate temperature readout. Most oem temp gauges nowadays are designed with this low sensitivity zone around the ideal operating range, just so that it warns the user when something out of the ordinary occurs. |
