^^ close.. but not exactly what happened.

there is a metal bracket on the drivers-side strut tower that is meant to hold some wires, one of which is the power wire that connects the battery and starter. that bracket is normally supposed to have a plastic piece on it since it has a sharp edge, however on menu's car that piece was missing, so as we were jacking up the engine the cable got pulled tight and that bracket cut into it creating a short between the positive and negative terminals and starting a section of that wire (technically just the plastic/rubber covering) on fire.

the moral of the story is... disconnect the battery if jacking up the engine.. and also there's a couple of plugs down behind the battery/by the washer fluid jug that should be un-plugged as well. they are part of the engine wiring harness and can get pulled too tight depending on how high you jack up the engine.

So my oil pressure gauge when cold reads 85-90 PSI, and the normal 20-30 PSI at idle when warm. Everything I've seen says cold idle should be at 100 PSI, is that what everybody else is seeing?? Car is a 02 with 83K on it, and the remote sender is hooked up to the galley under the alternator.

^^ every car is a little different... plus your gauge may not be 100% accurate... imo it's close enough that i wouldn't worry about it..

Accurate and Autometer in the same sentence...
hehe. It's still a good indication if something were to go wrong

I've always had good luck with their mechanical gauges but I won't trust their electrical ones.

i'm on the fence on this one. i don't necessarily think autometer = crap. some of their stuff is alright. i used to think that but i've seen so much worse (glowshift anyone?) that i had to change my perspective. just my 2 cents.

oh i also had an autometer 'prolite' mechanical boost gauge that worked extremely well. in many ways i liked it better than the mad dad gauge i have now. it sure was a lot quieter.

I drove though that wall of fog about an hour before that accident happend. When I left K-town this morning visability was maybe 30 yards at best. You couldn't see cars coming behind you merging onto the highway, or see overpasses until you were almost underneath them. It was like that from getting on 41 at 55 in Kaukauna all the way to Richmond St. and then you could see about a 1/4 mile. Too many people out there were driving too fast, tailgating, and strangely I saw several people w/out their lights on... including a GREY Dodge Stratus.

+1... I've had to deal with end of month, moving Saab parts into my dealership, and have actually been busy for the first time in two months. Nothing has gone smoothly, and I'm ready for this day to be over!

believe it or not, it's actually listed on the box as a feature. something about them making a "high performance" sound. they click and grind like a hard drive except louder. it's really f'ing obnoxious. now that i have the funds i'm considering selling them for some defi's or something.

Yeah, the fog was really really bad at about 6am when I left for work (I also utilize that exit/onramp but to head to Depere).

Couldn't see *****....

Damn it, I just realized I mistimed my trip to St. Louis by three weeks... and I'm missing the 100 Acre Wood Rally.
