You're not going to sell it..... you have to much invested in it. Trust me, I kick myself every day for selling mine.

Time to build a real car, snagged a 41chev truck for a ratrod. I can build it from scratch myself and rely on nobody but myself. Plus selling it would get rid of all my debt from the divorce.

Well damn subie got the better of me. It's running now, runs pretty good. Time to put the front bumper on it and get some miles on her. Then turn up the heat after a good break in. Probably will keep her now, plus I have a 01RS with the parts to do a wrx swap. Already have a completed wiring harness (thanks Iwire) and the basics to make it run plus some 4.44 gears lol

Great news Chris, glad that the STI is running well.
What's the plans for the RS engine wise? Loved the RS with outback xt trans that we had, 4.44 got up and went.

I've gotta find something to do to my Foz to give it more get up and go.

I have a '98 foz L, swapped the brakes, suspension, 20mm sway out back in prep for an ej205 swap, have the hydra ready to drop in with harness, stroker is ready. But kinda enjoying the NA, gas mileage is good, regular gas, no drama, kinda lost the motivation to swap it.
I picked it up for a swap for $1200, changed out the knock sensor and a few little things and it's run great, don't know when I'll ever do it with 88k miles on it.
Just saying suspension goes a long way for some fun too.

Whoa, I see what you mean!
Might be time for a swap eh? Wonder how the bulk harness plugs up. Wouldn't have to merge, just a straight swap if its like the 05 rs to wrx. Cool dude here recently swapped an fxt into an rs, dash and all. Wonder if he has pieces of the harness left to compare?
FSM's probably show the connections as well.

Yeah, the thing is, mine is just an XS, not the XT.

Yeah, I got that. Meant that a harness replacement from an xs to an xt would hopefully be similar to an 05 rs to wrx. No wiring harness merge, an xt bulkhead harness replacement along with the engine swap, if all the connectors coming out of the harness to the existing are the same it would make it a bit easier.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, to be perfectly honest I'm not sure if it would be similar or not. Man, that would be nice though if it was just that simple for me and I could get away with just a simple bulkhead harness and engine swap.

I am contemplating doing a complete '05-'07 STi swap though....that is....when the funds appear....

If the harness did swap over from xs to xt, the '04 STI ecu would be plug and play same way it is between the '04 STI and fxt with no immobilizer hassles.

So what was the verdict on this particular issue? I'd love to see it before I head back to San Diego.

Agreed, but if I was going to do the STi swap into it I'd do the '05-'07 STi as it has AVCS and for me, that's quite a desirable option.

Do they? I didn't think they introduced AVCS until 2005 with the advent of DBW and a few other goodies....

Right on, learn something new each day. I'm guessing it was the N/A that finally got DBW in 2005 then.

That's correct. Then in 2006, the AVLS system came into play on the 2.5i engine as well as the sloped quench pads.
