Question Window Trim Paint Peelage?

I own a 93 Legacy and am suffering from peeling paint around the top of the windows. The paint is over chrome, and I have noticed this on other Subarus I have seen parked elsewhere. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so what have you done about it?

Thank you

It's happening on my 91' - haven't done anything about it. I'd be interested in knowing as well. I wonder if powdercoating is an option?

So far (knock on wood) my '93 has been immune. I have noticed it on other Legacy's and it seems like either it's real bad or non-existent.

My 91 had it a bit. I simply got some gloss black paint and touched it up. Sure it doesn't look so great up close, but a whole hell of alot better then chrome showing through. And if you are standing like 10 feet away from the car, it looks fine, can't really tell the difference. Of course, I take as many short cuts as I can find

I wonder what the annual salary was of the guy who thought, "Hey, lets chrome plate these plastic moldings, then paint right over them"

I had the same problem with my '92. I used some touch -up paint, but the results were only okay:

From far away it is a definite improvement, but up close the paint does not quite match. Is there an easy way to remove these? I was thinking of stripping and repainting the whole trim panel if I can take them off the car.

WTF? I am doing everything right to post picts but they are not showing up!! Oh well, goto http://members.tripod.com/p.e.markie/index.htm to see the picts.

What do you think about removing ALL the paint, leaving a chrome effect?

I used some stuff on my car that worked great. It was called trim paint or something to that effect. I'll try and find the name if someone really cares. I'm not really into the fake chrome look myself, but whatever floats your boat.
