Default Upgrading to Wickeds ...

I get so many compliments about these wheels, Dan.

I'm coming back for Wickeds this year, and will be selling these wheels. I want to get the slightly added benefit of the 18's and wider tire section, and switch to the Michelin Pilot Sports. Along with front and rear strut tower braces, that will only add to the great handling it already has with the GT Worx/RCEs and upgraded sway bars we put on it.

What's great about either the Wickeds, or the straight up Awesomes, is that they're both lighter than the stock wheel and tire configuration. Wickeds with Michelin Pilot Sports weigh in at 44lbs and the stock config is 46lb for each.

I can't recommend Mach V enough, but I do wish they were closer!

To get the Sit center caps I took them from my spare track wheels (OEM 07 wheels) and used my mill with rotary table to mill them down to fit. Then hand polished the edges. Worked awesomely.

Tires are 245/40 17 Pirellis. The Pirellis have a smaller contact patch than other 245s I've had... especially track tires... and the shoulders are very rounded... I'll have to use them up before getting something else though.

Car is on AST 4100 coilovers. Not slammed by any means, but lower than stock or my old JDM Pink springs.

Thanks Scott! Appreciate the pictures and info. It looks really good!

A local buddy has the same wheels (and color) on his '07 SWP STi. I'm looking at the gunmetal for my '07 WRB STi.

I'm lowered on Feal Fixed Perch Struts with RCE Black Springs (Group N TopHats).

That is a great looking car. Love the white and gold rims.

Curious if you've seen how the Awesomes fit on GD cars with 265s?

For reference, I love mine... been running them with 245s and looking to go bigger. They are track wheels for me. Running RCE Tarmac 2 coilovers with 500/400 springs and compression/rebound cranked up stiff. -3.4 degrees camber front and -2.0 rear. I don't mind rolling fenders but would rather not pull them or go with flares.

I have motegi 17x8s for my winter wheels, and though my WRX comes stock with 18's I'm seriously considering 17's for summers as well due to increased ride comfort and as long as the tire has stiff enough sidewalls, performance shouldn't be degraded by taller sidewalls either.

Do the 17x9 Awesome wheels w/ 255/40 or 245/45 tires have any rubbing on stock suspension in the VA chassis WRXs?

I have not seen anyone run that wide of a tire on a GD car without serious fender mangling, I mean pulling.

Sorry I forgot to specify color. I remember you told me via PM that you had gold in stock but I'm looking for one of the other colors.

IMO Wicked Awesome are too big for my GD STi.

This winter I had some curb rash fixed and while I was at it had my Wicked Awesome wheels powder coated in Spanish Gold. The darker gold actually works with WRB a little better I think.

Dirty as hell but I can vouch for their strength. This is Turn 3 at Road Atlanta last year for Gridlife South. Set a track record on this lap too!
