Mainly ease of use and I can use it as a gauge as well. I feel like the convenience of it and maps that come with it are worth the price. Much better than sitting there with the laptop all Brian earl spilner like

I live right next to cobb but I think im going to go with shawn. He tuned my friends MY2011 and the acceleration is so smooth compared to the OTS Stage 2 map from cobb. |

Yeah I have heard great things about him. A friend of mine has a fully built 600hp 07 sti that was done completely from them. Downside about cobb is they are expensive. I don't care about getting more power really, I'm fine with stage 2. I care about reliability and it being a smooth DD. I may end up at church. If you go there, please give an update.

TP stage 2 and cobb stage 2 are probably plenty reliable. protunes are for power, people just like to scare you, Its usually the protuned guys that are blowing **** up anyway lol. OTS tunes need to leave more room for error.

Yeah I've been going back and forth with this. I honestly think the answer is that I need to understand the tuning process better myself before making a decision. I have a friend that blew his motor on the OTS stage 2 map but their are so many variables to consider to just point the finger directly at the map. I would feel much better about running any map if I understood tuning better. I've got more time than money so that's my next step before I make a decision.

I think if OTS maps were solely to blame then there would be:
1... More blown engines 2... Less people driving on Cobb OTS maps 3... More bitching about them. The fact is the both stock maps and after market maps both have had problems which leads me to believe it has more to do with driver flogging problems. |

2010 sti with 60k on it. Cobb OTS stage 2 catted with +aem intake. Not sure what oil he was running and I was planning on asking him out of curiosity myself, I should see him at the meet on Tuesday. From what I heard his brother borrowed the car while he was deployed and when he got back he noticed white smoke coming out of it. I have a feeling his brother either bounced it off the Rev limiter or did a long freeway pull which I've heard both make it run lean and could cause detonation. I've never met his brother so this is just speculation. Seems weird that it ran fine until he got deployed and came back? I still would like to leave as little room for error as possible with the map though.

That's why I don't loan my car to people, they have no responsibility to fix it so they beat on it and dive it way too hard
Not accusing anyone of anything, but that does seem like quite the coincidence and it's not the first time I've heard of such a thing |

I hit the rev limiter in 1st a lot lol
it seems like STIs have more engine problems, I have no data to back that up but I just feel like I've heard about more stock and near stock blown motors with STI's. |

Yeah I agree with both of you. I am going to be learning as much as I can about the tuning process before I get tuned for sure and will also be getting a wideband gauge to give the tuner a better idea of how the car is running as well as myself. So far my datalogs over the past year on the cobb stage 2 +sf look good from the info I've learned.

I posted some awhile back in Cobbs forum and bill @cobb replied saying they were fine. My current ones I've been looking over myself based off of what I've learned online so far. Everything is within the acceptable ranges. I've been wanting to do another log though it's been a couple months now.

There haven't really been many issues with the WRX guys, just some tranny issues that can get fixed under warranty. Last edited by corvid; 05-21-2013 at 02:51 AM. |

Maybe they just get abused more...idk. My car has been fairly issue free. Its never been to the dealer aside from me getting a warranty rear wiper refill lol

I had to get a new clutch at 11k, was apparently crumbling. It was slipping, kicking me out of gear, not letting me in to gear, grinding, etc. They replaced everything, and when he mentioned the throwout I thought of the guy here that had the same thing even though his car was stage 2. Ah well. Unless the next wrx is amazing (faster and more gas mileage) I'll probably be sticking with this car for a long time. I got the limited side badges, and holy cow what a bitch to get all the adhesive off. The black has a bit of a pearl to it, which is nice. Kind of getting that black and white look to the car, not sure how I feel about that. |

I put the S205 badges on recently, I sprayed it with some goo-gone and rubbed it for a while, then I just gave up and slapped them on...
Also snapped one of the WRX badges in half while trying to pry it off. |

I don't see how that would help in this situation, it would actually be more difficult as you would have to brace the panel somehow while you pulled the badge off. I've taken those things off so many times it's ridiculous, they don't don't even sit flush with my sideskirts after I put my mudflaps on, kind of pisses me off a little.

you can pry it off from the top if you pull the panel off, its not part of the fender, the area with the emblem and below just pops off

I know, that's what I was referring to when I said I've taken them off so many times...
