Default opinions needed: 02 interior for 04 interior swap.

i am looking to trade my perfect condition 02' sedan interior (exactly 1 year old) for an 04' interior. i have put up a couple of posts up in the wanted and new england regional forums stating that i want to do the swap.

my question is this: what is a fair swap considering both interiors would be used but in perfect condition? the other persons 04' interior would be 6 months to a year newer than mine, but other than that it seems like both interiors have positive and negative points to the point of being a pretty even swap.

would it be an even trade? i feel i should throw in some cash, but i am not sure what a fair amount would be? i can't see paying an awful lot for the swap, i was thinking around $100- and my seats for the 04' setup...

any opinions would be great, thanks~

It's the bolstering of the 02 vs the not-having-an-ugly-pattern of the 04...

I'd say it's about even...

You wanted an opinion so here's mine.

First of all no one is gonna go thru all that hassle for a mere $100. Cuz unless I'm missing something here the only thing the '02 interior has thats better than the '04 is better frt seat support. If you just want it for the looks then I would wait til people start parting out their stock frt seats for some after market stuff. But either way I don't see people taking your interior as part of the deal. I I were you I would just save up some more and get the jdm '04 frt seats or some nice bride seats. You'll get the best of both worlds the support and the look.

see in most ways i agree with you, but really if both parties are interested in the others seats (for whatever reason), what is a reasonable amount to throw in? if i threw in $500 everyone would want to trade, but at that price i would save a few extra pennies and get some corbeaus (which is probably what i will end up doing).

i have seen a few posts where people are unhappy with the bigger 04' seats so i figure it's about an even trade, i just have to find someone else who feels the same i guess.

it's a tough call because seats aren't that expensive, and both sets of wrx seats leave a lot to be desired... so i just don't want to be unfair in what i am offering/asking.

Default actually i have both...

the seats in the 2002-03 are much more comfortable, the 2004's are kinda hard. i'd just get custom seats or something like that.

You might confirm airbag functionality w/ 2004 seats and an 02 computer. I don't know of any problems, but those things like to fire when you screw with the wiring. Get the STi seats.

I traded my nearly new 04 seats with someone for their 02 seats because I was getting leather covers and leather looks much better on the 02 style seats. He paid $250 on top of the trade, and looking back on it, I'm pretty sure we both think he got a good deal.

Your best bet is to find someone with an 04 who is considering a leather interior, then direct him to some pictures of leather covers on the new style seats. It puts the ugh in ugly.

i was thinking of doing a leather kit instead of the swap as well. if i could do the swap for cheap then i would do it, otherwise i think i would rther do the leather.

the only things i dislike about my 02 seats are the fabric and the headrests. if i could find some nice headrests (kinda square with the hole in the middle, like teg type r h/r) i would do the leather kit and call it a day.

Just to let you know, the entire interior swap takes 30 minutes. I swapper my whole 02 cloth interior for a guys 02 leather in that time. Really easy...

I think $200 is maybe a better price to sweeten the deal...
