Question '07 2.5i → sti?

Hey guys, I've been looking around the forums for a little while now, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience swapping a 2.5i to an sti. I just want to know if it is worth spending the money on the swap and everything it involves or if I should just save up and buy an sti outright.

Thanks a lot.

buy an sti. hands down best idea. your 07 has too much value to do a swap.

Fair enough. The only problem now is saving up enough money. I'm a college student and that money just seems to disappear when I'm not looking.

Thank you

Yea, it tends to do that at our age.

Spend whatever extra money you have on suspension parts, it'll make the car a lot more fun to drive.

I had been thinking about doing that.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

For drivetrain/engine/brakes/axles you are looking at around $10k in parts alone. Figure about that much in labor as well if you are having a shop do it.

Yeah, I figured on it costing about that much, but I would've at least tried to do most of the work myself. My uncle is a mechanic so he'd have helped me with the build, but as far as tuning it, and most likely wiring it too, I would bring it to a shop.

The problem is mainly money. I don't have time to keep a job during school, and whatever I have saved up slowly eeks away. The only reason I was thinking about doing a swap instead of saving up is because I might actually have most of the cash after working this whole summer.

I still haven't convinced myself that I want to drop $10K+ directly after making it. I'm trying to get as much advice on the matter as I can. Which i appreciate you guys giving me.

I would just enjoy your car for now, save up the $10k and then sell your car and use the $$$ to get an STi. Just my .02

I have to agree, saving up does seem more feasible at this point.
