Default Should I trade my 2019 Impreza hatch?

I bought a 2019 Impreza hatch (CVT) back in may of ‘19. I’ve done a few mods. I installed a nameless delete axle back, smoked taillights. I love my car, just wish it was more sporty.

Friday after work, a grocery bag containing beer slid off my rear seat (shouldn’t have been there) and one can hit the passenger seat rail and put a small hole in it. It sprayed but luckily most of was contained inside the bag & rear rubber floor mat. I soaked up what I could on the carpet under the areas of the passenger seat, then used a diluted Chemical Guys stain remover (mixed 10:1 but was soapy) shoulda used 20:1.

Still smells like beer. Feels like the car is ruined. I have OCD when it comes to my vehicle. I work hard to afford it & want to keep it looking nice. Would it be stupid if to trade it in on a 2021 5 speed hatch? Love my car, hate the cvt.

Would you want to buy a used car that smells like beer?
That can be cleaned up and maybe you might need a professional cleaner to do it.
The beer got into the carpet and any underlying material plus possibly into the seat.

So, if it's just a beer smell issue, it can be fixed.

Now, if the REAL issue is the CVT, then trade it in but just remember if it still has the beer smell you will get less for it because it will have to be professionally cleaned by the Dealer and that costs money to repair so you will be charged for it as part of the trade-in value.

Spend very little money for an interior detail. The smell will be completely gone. I have a 13 Crosstrek that went in for body work following an accident. One of my sons was driving this all the time, so it smelled like teenager and energy drink. When I got it back, it smelled like I was in the dealer sitting in a brand new car.

Would it be stupid to trade your car? Yes. Yes it would be financially very stupid.

I had a ton of beer soak into my seat once.
It smelled like beer for a week and then never again
it's just beer, not a milkshake

You should always keep beer in the cup holder where it will be secure

+1 go over the whole area again, i normally will dump a good bucket of water over the area and soak it up multiple times then use whatever means to let it dry up and its usually good same day...if you want something sportier i would clean it as best as possible before selling as they will look for any reason to ding the value...

Use lots of product, water, and shopvac to suction it all out. Repeat 10 time if necessary. Do it like you mean it. And let it completely dry in the sun. Still 100x cheaper than buying a new car.

I thought you hated the car due to CVT and wanted something with MT or more power. That would be valid reason despite a huge waste of money.

Maybe running an ozone generator will get rid of the smell. Buy it from Home Depot and return after use.

Owns a subaru, wants sporty, hates CVT considering trading? STI is the answer.

I purchased this from Walmart when I received my jdm forester sti interior

Pulled massive amounts of nasty dirt out of them and they smelled and looked brand new after. I use it on carpet, floor mats, etc

Get a carpet cleaner with a hose for upholstery, they're like $100. With my kids I'd be going through a new car every week if a smelly spill was grounds to buy one.

Edit: ^What Foo_Blyat said. That's perfect.
