Default Some Details About the 2011 STi... and a Special Thank You to Subaru.

Special SOA thanks and news about 2011 STI

This is what makes Subaru a Subaru... Rarely do you see a car company open up their private pre-press events to Joe the Plumber! Well that's exactly what they did last night. A small group of about 15 of us caravanned from AZP Installs New Jersey location to witness the unveiling of the 2011 STi Sedan. At this event the press was present as well as the Senior Management team from SOA. The project lead for the STi was also there to pull the cover off of the STi as well.

Now on to the nitty gritty... THE SEDAN IS BACK. It's back in a big way. Although the example we saw last night was a pre-production vehicle without the final drivetrain in it, the exterior and interior was ready for production. Having been around the Subaru scene since 1998 we all know that we aren't going to see any major changes by Subaru as they are always conservative in their mid-cycle updates. My feeling is that the changes we will see on this will be below the skin for the most part. Sitting in the vehicle, the side bolstering on the seats is much higher than in the past. This gives you a much more of a cockpit feel than in almost all of the previous STi cars we've seen. New front fogs and bumper vents in front of the wheels are present. The WING is back! It also gets a similar package as the 07 STi Limited complete with Moonroof, Leather & Heated Seats, and special lightweight wheels. On the back end the lower valence panel is also updated and STi specific, which will provide a smoother flow of air when pushed to the limits. They assured us that this STi will be faster and handle better than the previous editions as well. Biggest suprise was a return to a Blue Ridge Pearl color very close to the 99-02 2.5RS that most of us TRUE enthusiasts grew up with here in the USDM market.

The pictures and specifics will be announced later today but it showed what kind of company Subaru is to invite Joe the Plumber to one of their hush-hush press events and give the Enthusiasts, the people that actually go out an buy their cars a little taste of what is coming down the pipe! Thanks again to the entire Senior Management Team for inviting us.

They just dropped the curtain on it at Jacob Javits. I'm sure official pics will be out shortly. We had to turn over our cell phones and cameras as it was a closed embargo'ed event.

Wow they certainly toned down the looks on it. Much less aggressive through every model update.
STi Wagon FTW in looks BTW

This is what I'd like to know. I would only buy the sedan if they didn't make the wagon. Inquiring minds needs to know.

Not particularly as exciting as I had hoped; if I had money I'd still buy the hatch STI.
