Was this a review of a WRX or a Legacy? Couldn't tell?

I just don't like the way it looks! The rest sounds great but the styling is just crap. I have liked all generations of WRX's until now. This is on the bottom of my list so I guess I won't be buying a new one until 2020. Haha!

I liked the looks of it until I saw this video. It looks like a riced out corolla.

911 handling? Please. It might have been a goal, but they obviously didn't reach it. Bigger swaybars and stiffer rear springs does not make a front engine awd family sedan, with terrible suspension geometry and design, handle even remotely close to a properly designed sports car.

Maybe the new STI will handle like a ZL1!!! not.

Also, down a .5L in displacement. BOOO. Half the fun with WRXs has been upgrading to a VF turbo and having STI hp/tq curves.

That piece of plastic does need to go. It seems nice overall, but a little too techy for me. I'll keep my 2013. Things I wish I had from this car: 1. D shaped steering wheel (which I can get myself), 2. Black headliner (can be done, but a pain in the ass), 3. 5X114.3 bolt pattern to get STI wheels.
I AGREE WITH ALL OF THAT ^^^ The bolt pattern on our stock 2013s kills me

Folks say that every time subaru re-designs the WRX. Let me remind you, they did ruin it once. Not only was it uglier in every way but it was slower and softer. At least the 2015 has a big handling and technology improvement over the current model.

People revolted, subaru responded.

And you honestly can't say that the new model is much worse off than even the current model.

they didnt really ruin anything its just not my kinda car anymore.
i do like high revving and stuff but you cant beat the speed of the vf-52 or 48 when tuned. direct injection i know nothing about so i cant comment.

Its more about tunability and unlocking some good power. who knows im sure people will make some nice stage 2 cars out of both sti and wrx.

Can't beat the speed of the vf52 or 48? What are you talking about?

The new direct injection twin scroll WRX engine is better for tunability in every possible measure than the outgoing Ej255. Even with a "Stage 1" tune where you don't swap parts and just up the boost and dial in the fuel and timing to optimize for better power output (while sacrificing some MPG) the new 2.0L will almost certainly make more power than any Stage 2 EJ255. Direct injection requires a very strong, high-pressure fuel system from the factory (pump and injectors). I imagine in stock form, the injectors and pump could keep up with another 3-4 psi no problem.

Read between the lines, the new WRX makes it's peak torque at 2000-5400 rpm. That's insane and you can't call this a "High revving" engine because frankly it's got more low end grunt than any oem turbo subaru ever made. The EJ255 on the current WRX makes it's peak torque at 4,000 rpm for comparison. That means you have to rev the current WRX to get to the powerband MUCH more than you will on the 2015 model.

Not being a fanboy here, it's just fact.

…except for the wheels… yuck.

The video was great. The new wrx is gonna be awesome.

That 2008 is hard to look at…

I'm so tired of hearing everyone talk about subaru ruining the "new" WRXs. It's the same story every time they come out with a new model. It looks different, that's for sure, but nothing will ever look as bad as the 08-10 WRX. Quit bitching and test drive it for yourself.

Yes, the 2015 WRX is sedan only. They haven't said whether there will eventually be a hatch/wagon model but I hope so.

hpfp failures, they make me cry. Hopefully it won't plague the next few gens. I was really hoping for hatch variation...

Interior Subaru is always a step behind.

It looks extremely bland. Seat look econo, wheels looks horrible, gauges meh, and no stitched leather dash. Even the new Civic Si has that. I guess they have to save something for the STI but most new compact cars at this price have nicer sporty cockpits.

The biggest problem for me with the new generation is the loss of the iconic subaru rumble...I hope there is an option for some UEL headers out there for the car...not everybody will be happy with maybe 30tq on a protune... I love my 13 STi hatch and wouldn't give it up for a newer model

No **** it's the best 6 speed that Subaru has built. It's the only 6 speed they have built in America therefore you have nothing to compare it to.

Did you catch it being twin scroll? You don't put uel on twin scroll turbos. Would you have seriously preferred uel headers over the benefits a twin scroll Turbo provides?

They certainly have brought some nice perks to this new model. I actually saw a white one in Center City Philadelphia a couple weeks ago, guessing it was some GM from Subaru or someone higher up in the industry, but rolling the thing did look pretty impressive. I think just like any other car it will start to slowly conform because at first I hated and slowly it has begun to grow on me.

I found this video and was curious to know if anyone could photoshop the front end of the new end on a hatch, that could be cool. I actually like the front just needs a little bit more...not an evo under spoiler lol. and ignore the wing choice

Why is he so exaggerating EVERYTHING.
Boy, that 0-60 CVT will give you a whiplash...better watch it.

So, as a past proud 08 owner I say - not this time Subaru, I'll pass.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. I have been a fan of Subarus for a long long time. Just now got around to buying one, only because I was looking for a particular car.

But I think the new design is much better than the last redesign with the 08's. Yes, the wide body cars look alot better, but at least they tried to improve this one more. I personal love the route that Subaru is taking with the new line of vehicles. I will be buying a new body WRX in 2016 more than likely.
