My experience with the Kartboy battery tie down (KB-BATT / KB-100-BT purchased in late 2016) on 2006 WRX Wagon:
I have replaced the battery at least once with one from the typical U.S. auto parts store. It's not a small battery. I was not able to tighten the nuts onto the stock tie down rods through the kartboy piece. The stock tie down bracket folds over the front side of the battery while the kartboy piece is almost flat on the bottom and is also thicker in the area where the nut goes.

Solution: I ordered some longer tie down rods from a legacy for a couple bucks each. Part number 82161AJ10A. They do fit under the hood out of the box, but I'll trim them down a bit for a better look and more clearance. The stock rods are listed as 240 mm. The replacement part number above are listed as 260 mm. I could have bought a battery tie down kit from the local parts store, but I'm pretty sure they were not metric so I found the Subaru parts to keep it stock for any mechanics that have to work on it in the future.

After a bit of work with a cutting wheel
