There are amplifiers that can utilize bluetooth as an input signal and you can also use LOC's to run amps and such.
You should start educating yourself and make informed decisions otherwise you are just short changing yourself and spreading around misleading information for others to follow.

Don't sweat it. Read above. You do not need pre amp outputs to run a complete aftermarket sound system with subwoofers.

How good is it at logging like and AP or Tactrix?
Does allow one to log a wide band?

i wish it would fit a little more flush with the dash.

how does it sound compared to the stock system?

i'm really happy with how the oem navi HK unit sounds in our 2015 Forester - but wish it looked like the new 2016 units.

Sweet. I just finished putting a 7" Android radio into my 2015 WRX. I'll be posting a write up soon.

There are many vehicle specific models like this for sale on AliExpress. They try like hell to be a direct replacement, but there is always a chance that some degree of wiring or mod would be required. Looks to be worth the time/money/effort though. Awesome stuff!

Hi,

Thanks for posting about this head unit, theres not a great deal of info regarding therse online. I am on the verge of buying a similar unit but there is a couple of things before I pull the pin - like if it is compatible with the HK audio in a '15 XT premium, its difficult to get a straight answer.

Going by the dates, you would have had the unit for about a year, any chance you could do a write up of how its been over that year? Quality, any issues, swc, reverse camera, gps, dvr, thoughts etc.. Also have you measured the screen? Is it 10 inches? I ask because there are varying screen sizes listed online but they all appear to be the same picture.

Oh, and the head unit looks awesome in your dash!!

Default My Review (sorry for my bad english :S)

Hi everybody!
ive had this headunit for a while now and i tought it would be nice to do a little review. (my STi is a 2015, so i dont know if it will fit in a forester, XV, or any 2016 models)
Basically this is a Android tablet, whatever you can do with a tablet that you can buy at best buy, you can do with this headunit.
1st: I had to do some wiring to make the swc working (3 wires were missing in the connector) and had to figure everything myself but it was easy after all.
2nd: I had to do some modifications to the Air vents on the upper part of the trim, the clips were not at the same place than those in the STI, i glued them.
3rd: The quality is extremely good for a chinese headunit, its hard to see that this is an aftermarket HU. you can judge by the pictures. The quality of the display is really good too (better than the new headunit in the 2016)
4th: i have no issue or whatsoever with the HU, its fast, the sound quality is good and the gps app is awesome. you have access to Google Play Store. I have no problem connecting my phone via bluetooth and if you have an android you can use the mirroring display app.
5th: i dont have the rear view cam display in the headunit because my STI is a 2015 and the stock rear view cam display is in the little screen where the boost gauge is.
6th: you can play what ever you want while your driving or not (youtube, dvd, music videos, etc) no need to bypass anything
7th: Its a 10'' screen
Finally this is a great Headunit for the price in my opinion, a lot a options, infinite customizations, looks great in the car and i recommend it and if someone is buying it, i would be happy too help for the installation.i hope this review helps a little bit because i know there is not a lot of info on the web.
Cheers!

That looks great! Seriously considering buying one of these. Does it come with an entirely new trim piece? Also, does it play cd's/dvd's?

Here's a link to the product page in English on Aliexpress:
Model PH-1988-WRX CONGHUA Eler Internation Co., Ltd.
If anyone else orders one of these, post good pictures of each of the harnesses that are included (uncoiled and laid out so people can clearly see each one).

It sounds like they include one with a Subaru/Nissan 20-pin style power/speaker connector, but without the 3 SWC wires. [EDIT: No, the mfr did not include a "plug-and-play" harness for Subarus; Justduff simply added a Metra 70-7552 or similar harness, which lacks the 3 SWC wires] As Justduff said, it's possible to add the 3 missing wires there, and connect to the HU's SWC wires.

Did they include a harness to retain the car's 3.5mm aux jack via the car's 16-pin aux harness?

Cars that had the OEM Fujitsu Ten navigation would need completely different harnesses for power/speakers and SWCs & aux. If the seller won't provide those, post here and I can tell you what you'd need.

How about USB? Retaining the OEM USB socket in 2015 WRX/STi would require a different adapter than what you'd need for 2011-2014 WRX & STi. Their pages says this HU works in all of those years, but I suspect they don't give you both kinds of adapters.

What other inputs and outputs does it have?

all the connectors provided with this head unit WILL NOT work, you need to buy a Subaru 20 pins connector! and add the 3 wires for the SWC
For the USB, the radio antenna a well as the 3.5mm jack this Head Unit retains all those features. oh i almost forgot, forget about XM radio loool

here's the diagram of the Head unit i got it from Aliexpress and it worth gold lol hard to get

Bluetooth input is not the same as preamp input. Don't even consider that as the same. Main problem, BT is a compression based protocol so whatever you send to an amp using it will be significantly degraded in quality. Let me remind you, BT was not originally designed for music and most people in a blind test can point out BT music from a well encoded mp3 or CD recording. Lack of preamps is a big deal if you want to add an amp. One can get creative but this would be a deal breaker for me. That being said, this unit is not intended for people that care about good sound quality. The audio processing capabilities of these units are highly questionable as far as quality so maybe this is OK for the average buyer of these units.

Has anyone else tried this since? Been considering doing a swap in my 2016 since the price is good and the starlink is miserable. Was there any improvement to sound quality when using this HU?

There are quad core units out now running Android 5.1, looks to be the same kinda deal, and I've heard 2GB ram units are coming soon as well. Look around on aliexpress and you'll see the newer ones.

THAT ONE HAS PRE AMP OUTPUTS.

I'm getting it! with the RCA cabels I can justify the 200 dollers more for the bigger screen and OEM look.

Are these mostly plug and play, or have people been splicing them into the OEM harness?

Yeah it looks like it has all the stuff.

Darn,

i need SVXdc to hop on so he can confirm! I tried to contact the seller but they aren't sure.

looks like i would still need the harness for the speakers the toyota 10 + 6 pin looking harness with him + remote amp.

If this works with the harman kardon package 2015 wrx i would hop on it.

That product page doesn't show any pictures of the adapter harnesses.

Please post good pictures of the harnesses that they include. Some vendors selling similar HUs don't bother to include adapter harnesses to retain aux or USB, so I'm curious to see whether this company does.

If this works with the harman kardon package 2015 wrx i would hop on it.
The adapter harnesses in the 2nd and 3rd pictures are for Nissans. That's a Nissan AM/FM antenna adapter. See the inset images in this picture (click to see larger version):
People with non-nav 2011-2015 WRX, STi, and Forester would need a similar power/speaker adapter, but with the 3rd SWC pin (#13, missing on the above picture). You would not need an antenna adapter, but you definitely need the blue power antenna lead to go to pin #9 on the 20-pin connector (the Nissan version lacks that pin, and runs it to a pin on their antenna adapter instead).

For 2012-2015 WRX, STi, and Forester (and 2012-2014 Impreza and Crosstrek) with Fujitsu Ten nav, you need the power/speaker adapter to go to Toyota-style connectors (like Metra 70-1761). You'll need an antenna adapter like the Metra 40-LX11. The seller can probably supply those (since it's likely they have similar HUs for Toyotas), but Subarus need the power antenna lead to go to the 10-pin portion of the power/speaker harness (instead of on the antenna adapter, where Toyotas normally put it).

For any of the above Subaru models/years with the harman/kardon amplifier and speaker system, you'll want to use the HU's line-level main speaker outputs (from their RCA jacks), and connect those to the car's power/speaker harness (20-pin or 10- & 6-pin) instead of using the HU's amplified speaker outputs. I'm guessing the seller won't supply a harness to work that way, so you would have to obtain that elsewhere.

For models with h/k, you'll also need to supply the +12V amp trigger signal to the car (either on the secondary 16-pin aux harness for non-nav models, or to pin #9 on the 10-pin harness on models with the FT nav).

Those pictures don't show any adapters to retain the car's aux and USB sockets. I suspect the seller doesn't include those (but they are available elsewhere).
