Really with the way the perrin shifter is designed. You can adjust it so short that it would be to hard to shift it from gear to gear. It is from 0%-80%. at some point with will have to modify the body to get it to 80% but it is posible for you to get to that point.
That is what makes this shifter different from the kartboy and the kartboy knockoffs. You can set it to what you feel comfortable with. Some people like just to to have it set for them and install it and forget about it. And others like to adjust it. Really the choice is up to you. But we do offer both products for this reason. dashiet - That isn't a shift knob that is the new pivot point for the shifter. You reuse the stock shifter rod and change the pivot point on the bottom of the shifter.
JasonG - You have a PM Tino - Shipping to australlia is going to cost quite a bit. I am guessing delivery of about 2 weeks. We can only accept wire transfers from out of country customers. Correct me if I'm wrong please...won't this shifter actually be taller than stock when adjusted to have a shorter throw?
To decrease throw, you will be making the shifter longer. this will be making the shifter even taller than stock. I think the stock shifter's pretty tall already - maybe I'm wrong. |

Actually the closer the pivot ball is to the fulcrum point, the longer the throw is to make the pivot ball travel the same distance. So, if you want to shorten the throw, you would move the pivot ball further(read longer) from the fulcrum point, thus increases the overall length of the shifter, which in-turn will make for a taller shifter.
This is not necessarily a bad thing for some folks, as long as they're aware of it before purchasing. |

So with the perrin you can adjust the shifter height to be shorter but in turn you will make the shifting motion longer. If you would like the shifter to be shorter(height wise) you should go with the kartboy. He takes the length from the top and puts most of it underneath the pivot point to in turn make the shifter shorter throw and length. The transmission mounts will work back and forth. Meaning that you can use a 5mt mount on a 6mt and a 6mt mount on a 5 mt. Subaru has different part numbers for the upgraded mounts. So I would recommend going with the 6mt mount if you have a 6mt and a 5mt mount if you have a 5mt. The difference between the 2 is unnoticable if there is a difference.
