I'm hesitant to jump for joy just yet...this is the first report saying that Mazda is bringing the wagon to the U.S., every other report has stated the opposite. If the wagon is offered here though, with a diesel and a six-speed...hubba hubba!

If it's true, hopefully this would prompt Subaru into some action with the Boxer Diesel. Subaru is a bit bigger than Mazda here in the U.S. If Mazda can show a demand, hopefully we can get one.

This article has the same old line that a diesel Mazda will eventually make it to these shores. Which model and when is still up in the air completely, just as it has been for the last 4 or so years as this rumor has percolated.
Nothing to see here, move along. |

I bet if I dug around I could find sources claiming a diesel Mazda (and Subaru!) on sale here in 2009.

It isn't. In those particular VW CR systems, the entire system becomes contaminated with metal particles if the HPFP fails, leading to the whole system having to be replaced. The newer design isolates the HPFP so that any potential failure doesn't take the rest of the fuel system with it. They have also stopped using the faulty Bosch HPFP's that were seemingly prone to failure.
There's no telling what type of design Mazda's CR system has, but there's no reason to think they'll have the same issues. |

Ok, I'm confused. Diesel or not, are we getting the wagon variant at all? I thought we were only getting the sedan. Given that the CX-5 seems to be a very strong product, I doubt that they will bring the wagon, but I'd be happy to be wrong on this.

As others have stated, it is highly likely that the only diesels will be the CX-5 and/or maybe the 3. My own personal opinion is OH COME ON MAZDA BRING THE FREAKING WAGON OVER |

I actually used to have a 2004 Mazda 6 Wagon!
I hated it and traded it in for a 2006 WRX Wagon |

A gooseman thread. Feelin' old now.
Since I've never owned one, what is the appeal of a front drive diesel other than fuel economy? |
