Snow Review
Sooo... it snowed a LOT last night. I thought I'd give my overall review of driving in the snow with a BRZ.
First of all, the obvious: This car is a SNOW PLOW! It's okay right now because the snow is soft, but if it rains as soon as they're predicting it's supposed to, my car will be screwed to no wood. Here are some things I've figured out from this morning: - When going from a stop, it's best to have all of the traction control OFF. The car kept cutting power any time it slipped. This made it a pain to come from MLK Drive southbound onto Elmore as you go up that little incline. Once it leveled out I was golden. - If you're going to encounter any curves, VSC Sport OFF is your friend. It allows a little angled steering while trying not to overall your inputs, but still corrects you with the little slipping that is sure to occur. - Once you're headed in a straight line for a bit, keeping the traction control ON is just safe once you're going higher speeds. It takes a bit of anticipation and knowledge of your route to make it work, but after experimenting on my route that I'm completely comfortable with, I know I'll be fine. I'm just glad I have a warehouse to thaw my car in, otherwise all of the snow buildup would continue to be murder on the handling dynamics of my car. My new license plate really does seem fitting right now, though. |

I pretty much started doing the same thing, turning the traction control off at stops and corners and back on at higher speeds. Have I ever mentioned how much I envy the placement of your TC/VDC button/s? Seriously, if someone could reroute it fairly cheap for me I'd pay for it...
Also, I'm having an absolute blast! Be safe everyone. |

Thats funny, one of the main reasons I got rid of the Tribeca is basically having to do all that.

With the WRX the traction control was always off. I'll be honest, the two accidents I got in with snow banks were at either end of the same street and the traction control was off. Of course, the WRX never invigorated me with confidence the same way any of the other vehicles ever did (minus the Forester). I feel safer with the BRZ compared to the WRX, but the 2.5 RS and STI beats them both by a good margin.

Hey BRZ'ers, just thought I'd pass this along. I've got the ISC N1 coilovers on my Legacy, and I really like them. They've got some available for this platform now.

Actually I'm a huge fan of the early legacies. I practically grew up in one. I always enjoy seeing one out on the road still. You never forget that to lock the door you hold the handle up... or those "automatic" seatbelts.
Anna who works at Conti still drives her blue 94 wagon around. I told her that when she finally gets a new car I'm stealing it. |

Feeling my way through starting new threads with the mods new format.
It's not going so well, so far. Sorry about the faux sentimentality in the BRZ ad. It reminded me of Bunta and Takumi a bit. All this Initial D stuff starting back up has me a bit…off. Maybe things will get better for you BRZ folks with the turbo model? |

^^Really?
It's old? The BRZ came out less than a year ago and now the commercial is OLD? Honestly, I hadn't seen it. I thought it was well produced. Last edited by Nomadgene; 12-21-2012 at 02:59 AM. Reason: fixed another of these silly smilies |
