'Merica's V8 engines are no joke. They just keep getting better and better too. I no longer will have a Subaru for a performance car. Been there done that and it's too many issues.

To the OP: get over it! If I could easily and cost effectively fit an Ls engine in place of my ej I would! Stop being a Subaru fanboy. Shall I divert your attention to this epic thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2422908 |

Ok. Sorry i was a idiot and started ths stupid thread. I really dont hate LS. I hav a couple buddys that have them an there quick. But they have twice the money in there motors than i do an im still faster. It is very true that i do have a lighter car an ther motor in mine would be faster. I like the unique sound an the bein different part of my car though. You can go to town an see 20 LS. An see no subies. At least were i live. It looks like thers not many people on here that agree with me though.

Have 4k into my ls6 and run 11.53 naturally aspirated going easy on the start... 10k on an L's can get you 700+, And run low 10s. So I am questioning the your faster part too but it can happen. Plus L's engine take nitrous amazing and are reliable on a 125 dry/150-175 wet shot. Harris makes a good set up for $400.
As for the weight change I would need some help from you since my knowledge is in the Ls engine world, but the L's are aluminium block. If fact when doing my v6 (iron block) to v8 (ls6) swap I lost weight. L's engines are amazing and get even better when you get a lsx block (427). Around here there are a lot of Saturn Sky's and solstices running with L's engine, they basically have to build the car around it... stupidly fast. |

Cool.
I would stick to bench racing or Forza/GT instead of talking real world performance, because you have no clue what the hell you are talking about. We all love our Subaru's, but there are better performers for the money. |

If Subaru wanted to approach the current bracket of V8's it would need to go with a bigger engine, not a smaller one. 3.6 liter boxer would be a good start, but instead we're seeing a 2.0 boxer which I seriously doubt will be pushing 400hp anytime soon.
Be happy to eat my words, but after that new Mercedes debuted with 355hp on a 2.0 direct injected engine which took 23lbs of boost and a 55k pricetag...I'm seriously doubting Subaru will be able to race much of anything in the years ahead outside of an angsty Camry or some mom bringing it in her Previa minivan. Bring your a-game though because even those are decent powered at this point. No replacement for displacement, at a certain point. So Subaru's are fun and a thrill to drive, but they're getting trounced with modern innovation and cubic inches. |
