this^. Dosent provide that much protection but a cheaper solution than the uhaul tow kit which requires a complicated install. i also have a light bar which is like whiskers on a dog or cat.

I've heard there's no real performance benefit, it's more for looks. The front calipers use the same brake lines and rotors IIRC, but the rears require brackets and a different rotor.

I'd imagine the pedal feel would be better with 4 pots

from what I've heard the best budget brake upgrade is to 2010+ LGT brakes since they are nearly as large as STI brembos.

you can get re-manufactured LGT calipers from advance auto for $65 each

I mean, ~10k a year is pretty damn low. My "issue" is that my job is less than 1/4 mile from where I live so I've been able to keep mileage on my cars extremely low. Kinda sucks though. I wouldn't mind a longer commute so I could enjoy the car more often.

Yes they are the 4 pot calipers from the gr's. Big difference from stock. No more squishy and sponges brake pedal. It's definitely wroth the upgrade and bolt right up.

I didn't feel any upgrade at all from the stockers when I had them. It was mostly for looks.

not yet. I almost never street park my car. i ran a test in my garage and rolled the car into the door the towhook hit the door first leaving a bit of clearance. The arch of the bumper cover vs the arch of another car is the only problem. I wish i can extend the hook more but its maxed out, guess its better than nothing. and btw that bar you have is sick. where does it connect to through the grill?

Have you tried using the front tow hook in the rear? I think the front one is suppose to be longer. My bar connects to the chassis (where the top radiator mount attaches) via a funky tetris bracket.

And thanks banker, though I can't wait to trade it in for a MKVII Golf R in a few years.

You just upgraded the rears with the gr brakes. The fronts are different calipers, correct? You won't notice a difference in rears even with aftermarket brembos. Fronts do 90% of the cars braking anyway. I felt a massive difference in overall brake feel and gripe. No spongey feeling or laggy bite. The 4 pots up front feel like brakes that should come stock, not the POS's that come on the car.

Had enough of this reliable car stuff, huh?

MKVII Golf R is some serious bidness. Probably will be so expensive though! MKVI Golf R is pretty cool too, the MKV/MKVI R-cars are very similar in handling characteristics, but the MKVI has a smaller, better engine and a stick shift.
