Just wondering if anyone has tried to install D specs on a gm8?

I've got the chance for a good deal on a set and they have under 5000 miles. He switched to coil overs for auto x.

I've heard either the front or the rear (I don't remember) bolt right up. But what type of modding would be necessary? And I'd sure I would need some spacers or new top hats too.

I bought/installed this D-SPEC set up on my 04 STi w/ stock spring, set to 5 turns from stiff... And after reading some of these reviews and hearing about the "clunk" made me nervous! So I just installed them today so far so good but keeping my fingers crossed...I will keep you all up to date as I break them in!

Mine are about three years old now and I have had zero problems with them. They work exactly how they are supposed to. Still love them.

Yea I'm really having a hard time deciding whether or not to pull the trigger on buying these!

I hear great things mostly but the bad stuff scares me!

Maybe TiC will chime in with some info

luv my spec d's.

i rallycross my car - 12 times year - and suspension/traction is very important. and beat the crap out of the suspension.

installed spec d's 90k miles. used them with stock springs...great daily ride and good for rx. no clunk.

at 120k miles blew 2 of the 4 out and the retailer changed ownership and had no record of my purchase. called toiko direct (number from their web site) and in one call (3rd vm link) got a hold of a guy who said "call blah at blah blah and tell him blah sent you". I was skeptical. and can't remember names.

called and in 2 weeks had a new set of 4, complete with return ship paid for the old ones. and no credit card deposit.

have 70k miles on the 2nd set and good so far.

About 5k on the dSpec's now. Changed to a STi spring last weekend and started to dial in the turns. 5.25 ttfs and 5.875 rear and it feels like butter. So far; no clunk, amazing dampening with the adjustment, and great ride feel on my DD. Problems; not getting the adjustment extenders for a sedan right away, loss of neg. camber in front and rear, and getting the top nut to spec is a PITA. All of those things were fixed in spring swap, bought extenders, Whiteline Camber bolts, and leather belt + friend = 44# on the nuts.
Love these struts.

Ive got 60k on mine and going strong. Frequent roadtrips with weight, on dirt roads, light offroading, all going spectacularly. Paired with RCE wagon spring and GrN mounts. I rail it on pavement, rail it on gravel, force it up some rough stuff, load it full of gear and friends, and it just takes it all. Will buy again.

my set of D-Specs just arrived today (along with the spacers necessary for the 06-07 years). hopefully ill have them on in the next week or 2 to better mesh with my Mach V springs (still on stock struts currently). after all of the positive comments here i can't wait .

for now I'm going to stick with the stock top hats instead of Group-Ns.

I had my D Spec installed today. I can tell you that 3mm hex did not work for me. It kept spinning. The correct size is Torx T15. I could not find Tokico tool TO0101 anywhere online. Tokico should have just pointed that is was a Torx T15.
