I use WIX filters, but have always heard good things about the OEM filters, now I learn that they are made by Fram?

Why do OEM filters get such good reviews compared to Fram's terrible reputation?

After doing extensive research, I used the OEM Mazda oil filter in my last oil change... Same as the old (good) Black filters but just a tad taller....

I believe it even says honeywell on the blue ones, which is Fram basically.

I miss my toyoroki's from my Honda days.

According to some insider sources: both have confirmed any blue honeywell (fram) from Canada recently wouldn't hve been a problem. This is most likely affecting US market. At least Subaru Canada's system doesn't show any recalls.

FWIW: fram is okay with your everyday car, as long as you change it up often enough. It's still filters. Just terrible if you pay stealerships pricing on it.

I have been using these for the past year on my gc and gd,

the 15208AA160 is same width as the 15208AA12A just a bit taller.

the 15208AA130 is same height as the 15208AA12A but a bit wider.

Both the have the correct bypass pressure and made at TK.

Are the Mazda black ones OK for N/A cars, or turbo only? The bypass pressure, that is. If they're good for the N/A cars I might switch over to them.

btw, the 15208AA160 is for the brz fa engine and the 15208AA130 is for the 11MY forester fb engine.
Also, just curious how you found out they have the same bypass pressure?

Most of you guys know how good these are. Actually Fram Heavy duty guard oil filter/mobil 1/wax/purolator are all very good filters as well. Check bypass pressure before mount on your car.

Mobil 1 oil filter is highly recommend by some suby members

*15208AA100*

Here is the alternative one for suby jdm tokyo roki
Mazda RX8 tokyo roki----n3r1 14 302

Ignore the purolator... I bought a bunch of those pre-maturely.

Mazda in middle, OEM from first oil change on right

I was told almost all subaru engines have similar bypass rating, only difference is between na and turbo is .4 psi which is negligible

na's are rated at 22.8 psi / 157 kPa
turbos at 23.2 psi / 160 kPa

i know the brz filter has an anti-drain back valve because of the way it's mounted but should be no problem to use.

If someone has there hands on a brz or 12+ FORESTER service manual, maybe they can confirm it...

What's wrong with the PureOnes? Was always under the impression they performed fine?
