brand new owner and i need some advice
Hey guys so first of all my name is George and im brand new to the subaru family and definetaly happy to be in it.
so i used to have a 93 camaro Lt1 and used to be straight musscle so therefore know nothing about turbos. I have a 05 Wrx with a momo short shift and it has the interior racing seats in it so i have no idea if that has any effect on the rest of the car ( weather they go hand in hand or not) but anyways the car has 35k miles on it and runs perfectly. the dealer ship said they put everything in the car at stock conditions so with all of that said. what turbo do i have so i can look into it further. how much is the most i should be able to boost it safely.(as a daily driver with as much boost as possible with still staying safe) and what can i do to get the most power out of my car with out too much money or basicly starter basic mods. thank you to everyone in advance George

Welcome to the community. A great place to start is this thread, which will answer many of your questions.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533787 To partially answer the one you posted, if your car is stock it has a TD04 turbo. With 05's, the best way to "boost" it is with a ECU reflash which will change the boost mapping as well as timing/fuel to give you more safe power. Do NOT listen to anyone who says you can safely just "turn up the boost"...you need engine management. A good place to start is with research into the Cobb Tuning Accessport which is a safe and effective reflash tool even for those without any tuning knowledge. |

Any idea what else the dealer had to do to "return it to stock conditions"?

Fill out your profile. Once you do, PM me and I'll move this to your local forum. Local advice > national advice. Read the link posted carefully. This AINT a muscle car and your knowledge and that of your Cousin Jimmy who has a DSM is null and void. A Subaru is a Subaru and all those tips/tricks everyone else knows that will work on XXXX car will put a hole in your piston and that's no lie.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the 05 had a TD04 turbo.
