I had mine done pretty quick too, less than a month. I did stay pretty tame though--mostly stock.

Atta boy. This is feasible if you have the right tools and parts.

Sometimes you don't know what parts should be replaced until you get in there and look, and then inevitably it's a part that is not in stock

Yeah I have the block and a spare set of heads. It will be assembled before I even start. All I have to swap will be sensors, manifolds, and accesories.

It' probably a good idea to replace all the little rubber fuel lines under the manifold while you have it off depending on your mileage. I had 87k and they were getting a little dry. They are a pain to get to later not to mention the fire hazard.

I also replaced the oil pump with an STI part, the water pump, the timing belt and all the t-belt tensioners. The clutch was pretty much gone so I put in an exedy stage II in. I also swapped in an aftermarket radiator for good measure.

All in all it was pretty pricey but I love the torque of the 2.5 and it would have only been a little less for the 2.0.

I got the OEM block from a tuner that was downsizing for about 100 less than the best internet price I had seen(no shipping no tax)...so less than a 2.0. The added cost came from headstuds and gaskets for the 2.5 that I need in addtion to the 2.0 rebuild kit. The clutch and the radiator needed swapping any way.

Why is this in the "links to great threads" if there is no real progress or ending?

Default New computer?

I just need to know if i have to reflash my ecu, i'm new to all this electrical bs, i miss my carburetor's and 1 vaccum hose on the bug! I had a guy at Performance Subaru in New Orleans, swap my 2.0 block with a 2.5 block and i get a CEL for loose gas cap now and car doesn't want to start every time i re-fuel its really strange. But after I get it started, it runs fine until i have to get gas again!

Maybe this thread could be un"stickied" since it was never completed? Just read through the entire thread only to find it stopped mid way three years ago?

Well, let's give this story and ending then......

Little Tony's already 3 yrs old, his little sister Tonyette is 1 1/2 and there's a third tony in the oven, man our friend Tony can't miss!

Bolt on parts were sold, 60% ebay 20% local 20% forum, traded longblock for a stock ej20, got the rex back running and went to a local dealership where honest Bob took the car as a trade in for the Caravan our friend Tony drives today, so basically we're the only ones worrying about the build, specially after reading the whole freaking thing and almost getting caught at work twice!!

my conclusion? the market dipped at the begining of 07, and by 08 the world was in chaos.

So did Tony +8500 dollars in debt have made him:

1. sold his parts and cars to pay for mortgage
2. put it back together and didnt work, didnt have any money to put anymore into it.
3. ran out of money, lost his house, his car and he wants to move on.
4. I just got ****ing ripped off!!!!! But nice thread to fall back on.
