it will end up costing me around 350 to 400.... I will never deal with isr again no matter what.. but i have seen those springs. I need all the specs of factory springs so that they can use the rates and everything else to essentially create a factory spring that is 1.5 inches lower. So i still need those specs

If you make the springs with the same specs as the stock ones but 1.5 inches lower isn't the ride gonna quality gonna suck?

Here is what I've been able to learn after 6 mths of harassing SOA. Note the information is for the BH (Wagon) not the BE so I do not know if this really helps - I would suspect that they are similar.
There are four (4) spring rates used between the GT and L. The Front springs change depending on the Transmission used and the Rear Springs change with the Model. All they could/would give me are "ranges" that the front and rear springs fall in. Fronts - 18.90-023.8 N/mm (108 - 136 lbs/in) Rears - 39.20-042.6 N/mm (224 - 243 lbs/in) Remember there are two (2) different springs within each range. Now if I was going to have custom springs done I would either get real friendly with a parts guy that had springs for me to measure or find a wreck and get the springs from that ( Again an Auto will have different front rates than a Manual and a GT will have different rear rates. - The Spec's you need are : 1) OD 2) Wire Dia. 3) Free Length 4) End Condition (i.e. closed, closed & ground, open etc...) 5) Rate (anyplace that can make springs should be able to test them for rate.) BTW STi BE/BH Legacy rates are on their website: BH Front 3.1 kg/mm (174 lbs/in) BH Rear 4.9 kg/mm (275 lbs/in) BE's are a little different - you'd have to check the website for numbers. The STi's are avaliable thru a number of dealers in addition to iSR - Vermont Sports Car, Rallispec, etc... Really anyone who deals with STi should be able to get them. What you would need to find out is the spring id - will work they with the standard US Spec Strut or if you would need the Sti Strut and different Upper Cap. (I think they were originally designed for the B4.) Hope this helps KCB |

Cool, ok, so quick question, has anyone tried the STi spring/strut combo on a US BE yet? do the top plates match up, do they need to be modified, ala a GC8 bracket or something? Obviously, just another BE in the same boat.
Thanks, Ben |

working on a (not-so) top-secret project...
someone in our midst (not me) is the proud owner of some JDM B4 Bilstien suspension. Complete set: Front / Rear, spirings, struts, top-mounts. It's being shipped from Japan within a few days. soon enough we'll all have some answers to some of our questions. |

he he he! did we out-bid you on the suspension?
we got the Japan connection goin' on. if you want some struts, you know the drill. Just PM me when you find a set you like on auction and have the money ready to paypal. Jacobhorn is the third happy guy we've hooked up, so the formula seems to work well. you might want to wait until we see how well they work before you get 'em just in case there are fitament issues. -Steve |
