New ARK DT-S Exhaust for 2011+ Sedan
Just got it today in the mail and got a chance to install it. I would definitely recommend it. It not only keeps the boxer rumble, but accentuates it. Check out this sound video I made up real quick. More to come, including SPL measurements. And for anyone that's interested, it is approximately 18.9 lbs heavier than stock. No downpipe, uppipe, headers or anything. The catback is my only mod so far.
Update 9/20: Unboxing Pictures Bible verse on the box. Take it or leave it, I liked it Very well packaged ...and protected High quality materials and welding Burnt tips w/ Ark logo Installed: took about 1 hour alone. Then took another hour plus a friend to get the tips lined up right. SPL: Idle in car (warm)- 65 dB Neutral 3k rpm in car- 74 dB Neutral 5k rpm in car- 76 dB Idle 24 inches from tailpipe (warm)- 82 dB Smooth road 40 mph (5th)- 79 dB Smooth road 50 mph (6th)- 79 dB Highway 70 mph (6th)- 81 dB 1st gear WOT- waiting for the 1000 mile landmark Compared to my measurements before the exhaust, the sound levels are averaging out to 8.5% louder than stock. Will update as I add more. Measured these several times and took an average using the app on my phone... haha jk. Used some generic SPL meter I got from amazon. Keep in mind I do not have an aftermarket down pipe, so that will add a bit to your noise levels. Working on a video with several shots in and out of the car. Will be on youtube within a week, and I'll post a link when it's up.

Sounds good as far as internet soundbites go. Nice quality too, from what the website is describing. $1,600 is a bit rich for my blood for a catback on a subaru though.

Agreed, sounds good. I look forward to seeing measurements for better comparison.
Would love to know how this compares to a TurboXS catback in terms of sound quality and noise level? |

Are you noticing more exhaust out of one side than the other? I've seen some of the vids that show visible exhaust only on one side.

Initially had hotter exhaust coming out the passenger side. Same flow amount, but higher temp = higher pressure = more restriction. Had to adjust the connections at the y-pipe and now its running 100% even.

Does this exhaust get completely rid of the 1500-2000 rpm "boom" inside the cabin?

Glad to know that can be balanced through adjustment. Can you share what you did to balance it at the y? It's an awesome looking exhaust.

Those are side branch resonators. If that level of development went into this exhaust I can completely understand the $1600 price tag. I saw those and went "whoa, someone put significantly more time, thought and possibly engineering than 98% of off the shelf aftermarket exhausts."

Sounds good, not as loud as other options. Anyone know if ARK is compatible to retro-fit with TBE RSR on an 06 Limited?

I'm trying to decide between this, the grip, the Invidia Q300 and the P&L Catback. I guess my only question for you in how loud is it and how does it really sound in person? I'm really picky and i cant see spending any money on an exhaust unless im 100% certain. I have only heard the Q300 in person.

$1600 and heavier than stock are two reasons I would never buy this exhaust. It does look and sound nice though. I think the Invidia Q300 sounds just as good at half the price and I am happy with my Q300 purchase. But this is your car and your $$, if you are happy with the purchase then that's all that matters.
