Unhappy Should I think about selling my RS?

Well I got my RS earlier this year and I have enjoyed it (with all the usual subaru quirks). During the summer I bought a BMW for my wife because she was going to drive quite a bit as a real estate agent (showing houses to people and stuff). Also I wanted her to have something nice that she likes

Anyway, my wife is now 3+ month pregnant and she does not drive the BMW that much, 3-4 times a week very short distances to her mom's house and some short trips on weekend when I drive us somewhere.

I feel like the new car really is kinda not being used to its full potential. So I was thinking maybe I should sell the RS and drive the BMW to work (90 miles commute). Since as my wife gets more pregnant, I would not want her to drive anyway. Her parents lives like 2 minutes away, and her brother and her dad (semi-retired) both have cars so if she really needs to go somewhere, it would not be a huge deal...

Maybe after the baby is born in May next year and when she really gets back to working after a couple months, I will give her back the BMW and perhaps get a new WRX (bit by the turbo bug), RSX-S, TSX, RX-8 or even the STI (I can dream, cant I? )

We are sound financially and I DO NOT NEED to sell the RS. Maybe I will drive the RS 3 times a week and the 325 the rest of the time? Selling the RS meaning taking a little hit in the pocket (not to an extent that would make me cringe) but at the same time, save me $1200-$1300 annually in insurance premiums. Or perhaps take the collision coverage off my RS? (if I dont drive it so much)

Somehow I felt like maybe it is time to be a dad and perhaps there are more important things than cool cars....

Well, I guess it would be a good idea to sell the RS and replace it after the baby is born, but you would be leaving your wife without a car at home...

perhaps I would buy a cheap automatic car so she can make her 5 miles max. errands OCCASIONALLY?

but then getting rid of the cheap car is a pain in the future....

So your going to drive a BMW for a few months? Then when she is no more preggo, get a new car, maybe a RSX or a WRX I don't know.... but I couldn't commute in a BMW for months then switch to either of those.

Sidenote: You must be loaded, a new BMW, a new baby, and your getting another new car.... Lifes good for some...

Sorry, this is funny to a woman who worked (read: drove to work) up until 2 days before having her daughter!

You know...if I choose to drive daily between a 325 and WRX/RSX-S, guess which one I will take.

If I am loaded, dont ya think my profile would read 04 STI instead of the RS? All those cool cars I am thinking are all hypothetical. Selling the RS now and save in the mean time would probably help me get there faster?

Different for every woman I suppose, and hats off to you...

NYC is hectic and perhaps I am just too paranoid...

selling the BMW is completely out, no doubts about it

Being in NY, our BMW is also AWD (I know I know, but I firmly believe in "you should drive what you want"). Wife cant drive the RS because it is a stick-shift and I will not ask her to drive a stick if she has no intention of learning it.

Thanks

The baby was unplanned but I am really looking forward for he/she to be here.

I drove my RS to work this morning and it is simply too nice a car to get rid of now...

I bought the RS with 9k miles on it for a decent price, powertrain warranty and extended warranty (w/deductible)for 2 more years, gets 27-28 mph for combined hwy cruising and bumper-bumper traffic, along with a decent service department near me.

I had the oil changed and put in a new air filter this Saturday and the car feels so nice this morning and pulled very hard.

perhaps I am just going to drop the collision coverage on the RS since I have been grandma-driving since my last totaled-a-car accident. Drive the wife out more on weekends in the BMW so it does not feel neglected

Sell the BMW. It's more expensive to maintain, more expensive to drive, and probably higher insurance. If you live and work in NYC, why not sell both cars and get a beater that will get you to work but you won't care when it gets crunched by a hit-and-run bike messenger or taxi?

Keep the RS and keep the miles off the BMW. Why not? Also, how can your wife become more pregnant? That's sillyness.

We are in the suburbs, far from the real craziness of NYC...still , pretty chaotic though

Not to try to be Captain Obvious or anything, but why don't you ask your wife what SHE thinks you should do instead of random strangers on an internet forum?

If you really really want to upgrade the RS your plan makes sense but otherwise I would just keep it. Run up the mileage on the RS instead of the BMW.

don't sell the RS... you will loath your child in the future if you do.
