Subaru has to be approaching a record for special edition versions offered in a single generation.

2015 - Launch Edition STI (1,000 units)
2016 - Series.HyperBlue STI (700 units)
2018 - Type RA (500 units) & 50th Anniversary Heritage Blue WRX & STI (200 STI & 600 WRX units)
2019 - Series.Gray WRX & STI (250 STI & 750 WRX units) & S209 (209 units)
2020 - Series.White WRX & STI (500 STI & 500 WRX units)

That's 7 in 6 years.. 10 if you count the special edition WRXs. I'd say that's probably a record. It certainly detracts from their "specialness". Depreciation and future resale values will be interesting.

I think the Series.White is the best bang-for-the buck so far. Both the WRX & STI offer a good value compared to the others models.

There was also the 2018 50th anniversary in heritage blue. While it was available across the lineup, 600 were WRX and 200 STI.

Good info, I forgot about that model. So the 50th anniversary STI is actually the rarest.. even rarer than the S209

Updated my original post.

I’m really hoping the next STI can shrink a little bit. Still can‘t get over how BIG the latest body appears. So tall and long.
My ‘05 did not seem nearly that big.
Thing just looks BIG standing next to it.
Cars almost never get smaller though.

Shame they can’t do a bullet proof full-blown STI-built FA20DIT BRZ.. That would be freakin fun. It would be in my garage.

Apparently Toyota wants to make a mid-engine sports coupe again, most likely with AWD to help separate it from the BRZ/86 and Supra. A mid-$30k STI coupe twin sounds plausible, if they can make it smaller than the WRX, but only slightly bigger than the BRZ/86. The Supra is longer than the BRZ/86, but mid-engine might help that.

I'm just not sure how it's possible for Subaru to make symmetrical AWD and mid-engine AND small. Maybe rear-engine instead?

Considering how blimpy the new Levorg is, you will be disappointed. Although I thought it got shorter and wider.. maybe I'm thinking of a VW.

SOMEthing different is being incubated is obvious.

Will it be just a new thing, or the exemplar of another future...

it should be doable just transversely mount everything like a Porsche...in theory you could flip your whole body around and turn your current STIs to be close! will be fun to see what they come up with...hopefully emissions don't kill the performance...

Hey bro - can you please help me find those fog / duct (whatever they're called from the '20 STi or Series White?

Every time I try and look for '20 parts on the Subaru parts side, I just get taken to a weird accessories page and can't see a single '20 part of any kind. I have no clue what I'm doing to cause all that lol.

No problem man, the website doesn't seem properly setup for 2020 yet. The fog cover part #s are 57731VA500 (RH) & 57731VA510 (LH). They'll probably have to be special ordered.

And here are the JDM LED versions:

Sorry, no luck on the Series.White parts yet. I'm curious how much the front grille will cost.. my guess is around ~$500. The grille will be available from Japan sooner since it's also on the EJ20 Final Edition.

Also interested to see about the "heavy-duty steering rack mounts".

From looking at pictures, the front grille just appears to have a special red insert.. maybe we'll get lucky and it's just a clip-in insert that Subaru will sell separately

You could have all of the cherry blossom red.

I like the grill insert. Hopefully it's not $500.
