I gotz a Subaru
again

Default A guy at Tim Hortons called me a ricer.

So I'm at Tim Hortons with a business colleague and I overhear 3 guys in the lineup talking about rice, and STi, and WRX's. Since mine is the only one in the parking lot, I take a closer listen, and this is what I heard.

guy1 - "I don't see any STi parts on the car, why does that guy have a decal?"
guy2 - "He's probably some ricer asian kid who didn't even buy it himself"
guy1 - "I hate those kids"
guy3 - "yeah, hate."
guy2 - "It's probably not even turbo"
guy1 - "Yeah, it's probably just a TS or something"
guy3 - "yeah TS, TS."
all 3 - "hahahahhahaha, ricers"

At this point, I'm not taking anymore of this. I excuse myself from the meeting and yell out "It is a turbo, can't you guys see the ****ing hood scoop? As for the STi decal, I do have STi parts, you'd know this if you had a clue"

Then it clued in to me.
I just challenged these guys in the middle of a Tim Hortons at 9:30 in the morning They grumbled, and said some things back and forth to each other, but nothing else came from it. The guy I was meeting with had a great laugh, as did I.

Damn ignorant fools.
Making fun of my STi bunny sticker.....

Tim Hortons isn't the best place to meet intelligent people. Good donuts, that's it.

I find most of the haters out there try to be knowledgable but they really dont have a clue. Most of them are just jealous they have a crapazz ride.

Maybe they were all members of the "I've got a deposit on an Sti club".

But, in their defense Sti stickers/emblems are rice. No one here owns an Sti...yet...and if you do have sti parts, well gravy, but doesn't need you mean to advertise. I always think it is better to understate the car rather than overstate it.

A couple years ago I went to a Halloween party with an official "Cheesehead" hat on and a plain white t-shirt (on the front it said "I'm with stupid, eh?" and on the back "Follow me to Tim Horton's, eh?"

Ahhh, yes that was a fun time. Especially since we were about 45 minutes from the border, so everybody understood.

All in good fun, no offense intended or implied. BTW I liked the way that you told those jackasses whatup.

Tim Horton's has good coffee. Much better than Starbucks, IMO, but maybe that's just my simple minded taste.

Ahh yeah.. I just started working tech duty at a new company and one of the guys, a great guy to work with, funny and cool, is a civic tuner. He's working on his latest civic and I dunno much about the guy, just he frowned at me when I said I had a WRX. He's hanging on some of the local import boards so he should know.. and it's not like he asked me if it was stock.. so I guess he might be a bit of a hater.. will be fun times!

Subaru's always seem to be the underdogs and different. Maybe that's why we like them so much

I think that says there's something very unique about us, with appreciating the underappreciated. The more they're underdogs and different, the more I like Subaru's. Last thing I want is to see my car on every single block in Vancouver every single day I drive somewhere.

Well we could focus on other things like dividing people into categories like: fat/old/ugly/young/hairy/stupid/etc.. Then it wouldn't matter much what race you were, we could judge you by other crieteria which you also don't have much control over.

Personally, considering the effort involved, I think it's not really worth the bother. We just have to face the face that humans aren't perfect and focus our efforts on spreading our race around the universe.. Who cares if we don't work out our issues first.

I don't think it's so much the cars that are discriminated against for the most part (barring Hypa's incident, where those guys are just flat out retarded). Very often, you have "hongers" who are just... well... lacking in common sense, IQ, situational awareness, knowledge, and the willingness to learn. Those are the real ones that gets called out, just like the "rednecks", or "dumb white boys", etc.

I'm actually looking into a Nissan xterra, supercharged.
I need the towing capacity, and a 4x4 with some ground clearance(I miss off-road).

I will own another scooby one day though. I was thinking of a mid 90's RS coupe, with the ej20

One day.....

Those guys were hilarious. They deserve the disco monkey.

I originally bought the STi bunny sticker to put up in my shop, and was going to do so until my wife stopped me. Her argument was the we hace some STi bits, and that she really likes the bunny.

I will admit it is a bit on the ricey side. But it keeps the little lady happy, so it's worth it. Not to mention, my family ricecar is still sooooo much faster than TMR's meinfuhrer-vegnugen!
