Everything. You just need the atmospheric pressure sensor plugged in for things involving relative pressure such as boost control.

Perfect, with that being said, you just leave that solenoid and call it a day...everything else is removed?

I really would love to remove the solenoid....but I guess we can't

Thanks,

This is what I removed

One of the stupid Ksketch plate was off, the holes where not concentric to the bolt holes so I have to fix them. Do you guys remove these two solenoids as well?

I removed the same as you. Only had to disable 2 codes. Most seem to leave these alone...since they generate a bunch of other codes, and also contain one of the pressure sensors. I forget which, but it is covered earlier in the thread.

On my 06 WRX, everything is removed, car runs great, no codes, and was tuned by one of the best tuners in the world... Clark Turner.

I have yet to see any evidence or proof that anything is needed if tuned out correctly.

I took out the solenoids and put the plates directly on the back of the heads.

06-07wrx, you remove the solenoids and pump, and block off both heads

07sti (not sure about 08+), remove pump, but block off driver side head and leave solenoid in for the atmospheric pressure sensor (or car will go coo coo)

Haha I did the same thing. I believe you need to take that plate off of the valve and put it on the passenger side of the block. That why it doesn't fit well.

Having a problem on an STi here as well.

Code is deleted but comes back every time I start the vehicle.

Is it a problem with the Cobb - and the code is not actually doing what it is targeted for?

OK, so before my most recent tune I removed both sensors as well. As several have already said, it runs great once the codes are deleted. TGVs deleted as well with no negative effects

I guess the ATM Pressure sensor is somewhere else on the 06-07 WRX.

can anyone report on the presence of an "atmospheric pressure sensor" on the '08 sti's that might impede removing this system entirely. Need to free up space on top of my engine .

On some high revving race motors they use air pumps as crank case vent pumps. On a ZX12R website they do the same thing its said to help ring seal and flutter it makes negative crank pressure so the pistons should move freely.

i have 2 question..

1. when i couldnt get the passengers side hose off so i decided to just leave it and cap of the air valve thats next to the intake manifold (the one with the red dot in the picture) well somehow i forgot to and drove around for a day without it capped off! could this have caused any damage? was air able to get into the heads because of this? or was exhaust able to escape through this? I assuming only air can enter the heads through these ports and exhaust still goes down through the exhaust?

2. i have since capped off that valve since its still connected but i just left the other valve alone since its basiclly just sitting there.
can i remove these 2 valves or at least 1 of them?
doesnt one also contain the atmospheric pressure sensor?

oh and the atmospheric pressure sensor is in the ecm for 06 wrx models...

Dag nabit, I'm throwing the p2443 code as well now. Advance auto read the code and it printed out as:

P2443 Sec.Air Inj.System
Switching Vlv Stuck
Closed Bank 2

I've read through the entire thread and I don't see any mention of unsticking this valve. Is it possible to get to it and unstick it or does it need replacing all together? Or would removing it and killing the CEL be better?

The air pump purging/venting the crank case killed the deal for me. Our engines produce a ton of blowby, every bit of equipment that helps minimize blowby is worth keeping IMHO

Do you need to block off the solenoid for the 07 STI or can it be left alone?

When I unhooked the valves on my 07 WRX I found that like the STI one of my valves has an atmospheric pressure sensor in it. I had to hook it back up to get the ECU to see boost correctly again. The car did however drive just fine with out it. I had the car hooked to a wide band at the time and the air fuel #s did not change. But the ECU showed a max of about 7.5psi. I'm tuned for 17.5psi. It also showed vac as high as 20.3. Normal vac for my car is around 10.3.

I hooked every thing back up as I was not sure why this happened until I read this thread.

Is it possible to put an 06 WRX ECU in an 07 WRX? Would this allow me to remove the 2nd valve and not have the ECU seeing the wrong manifold pressure?

Also on the car that reportedly had problems when this was unhooked I have a theory. That car had a bad ground some place in the system to start with and unhooking the valve removed what ever ground it did still have.

Later.
