I just finished my 07wrx swap into my00rs and removed the air pump. I left everything else on and just plugged up the hose with a plug. After logging, for some reason my atmospheric pressure is reading 21.67psi. I thought the only way for the pressure sensor to read bad was to unplug it? In my case its still connected, the only thing removed was the pump. Anyone have an idea of what may have cause the sensor to read high? Will removing everything allow the sensor to read correctly again? I am in desperate need of help. Anything would be great. Thanks

Your sensor needs to be open to atmospheric pressure to read atmospheric pressure. I'm betting that when you shoved the plug in the hole (giggity), you compressed the air a bit. Either drill a small hole in the cap or remove it and have the opening point down some how so water doesn't get trapped.

I just ordered the plate last week and have been debating how to deal with the pressure sensor. From what I can tell, the actual atmospheric pressure sensor is on the inlet side inside the valve itself. I'm guessing they moved it there to prevent any water damage. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think if you're going to make a block off plate, there needs to be an opening to read the atm pressure.

Our plates definitely only cover the holes in the heads.

This is an important point. You can't seal off the atmospheric pressure sensor from the atmosphere.

But the new valve block-off plate would go on the output side, so it normally sees exhaust pressure. I doubt the sensor is reading from there.

This notorious pressure sensor is built into the driver-side valve, right? #8 in the pic attached below?

All I did was put a plug here. I also tried unplugging it and leaving it open to atmosphere. My logs are still reading 21.76psi. Why is this? Do I need to remove everything in order for the pressure sensor to read correctly?

OK I'm sorry I didn't read you first post clearly enough. The 21.76 PSI reading is an open circuit value. Make sure the wiring harness that is plugged into your valve is completely secure.

I believe it is #4. I'll double check on my car later.

EDIT: It's number #8 - you were correct

Unplug the solenoids and then have your tuner turn the appropriate CEL's off. My system is completely gone, solenoids, valves, etc and I have not has an issue.

Yea its plugged in. Is there a way to check if its getting a complete electrical circuit? I read somewhere that this ground goes directly to a fuse of some kind that does not exist in pre-06 models and if you do the swap you may have to manually wire in the ground. Well my car is an 00rs swapped with this 07 motor and I have a feeling like the valve is not getting complete electrical circulation.

so you don't even have ANYTHING plugged in at all, regarding the entire airpump assembly.

I'm not familiar with the differences in wiring harnesses and fuse boxes, so I'm not going to be much help on that front. I would suggest using a multimeter to see if there is any power going to the harness. There is a pin diagram of the whole system in a different thread, but I couldn't find it when I searched.

If anyone knows where this diagram is, please post it here. I am almost to the point of just wiring the solenoid manually to the ecu....

Ok, just to be clear, what exactly do you do on the driver's side valve on an 07+ wrx? I know it must remain plugged in, but what do you do with the plumbing?
Do you remove the pipe to the head?
Do you block off the ports in the valve?

I have NOTHING plugged in. All codes dismissed using ROMRAIDER.

Remove the valve from the head and block off the hole in the head. Unplug the valve and delete the code. At least that's what I did. Can this not be done on the 2007+ motors?

You (and I) have an 06. We can do this. I've read that for us, the secondary air pressure sensor is on the ECU (not sure how true that is).

07 WRX's and STI's have a pressure sensor in one of the valves that needs to remain plugged in.

On the 2007 WRX you remove everything except the driver-side EGR valve (#8 on the diagram below). Leave it plugged in to maintain the atmospheric pressure sensor. Use cover plates to block the injection ports in the heads (preferably KSTech-brand ). The ports in the valve do not need to be covered, but I think it would be better to do this to keep the valve from accumulating debris, water, etc. We will have a plate available to do this in a week or so.

I am pretty sure the above is true for 2007 STI also. If not then somebody please correct me.

The 2008 is different I think. See the next post.

On the 2006 WRX everything, including the driver-side valve can be removed before blocking off the ports in the heads.

I wish Subaru would make up their mind. The attached diagram below is for the 2008+ WRX/STI (and 2007+ LGT I think). It appears that the pressure sensor may be part of the pass.-side valve (#5). I base this assumption on how the connector looks. Can anybody confirm this?

mmmm something doesn't smell right about this. On my '06 TR, it sure looks like I have the pressure sensor built into the valve. Was there potentially a mid MY change?

Did this yesterday on my AUDM MY07 WRX. Well actually just removed the pump + pump hoses, until I get some block-off plates, so only took me about 30mins.
No negative side-effects that I can notice.

Had a friend diable the CELs prior to removal.
Although on the AUDM ECU there were only about 7 CELs, not the dozen or so listed earlier in the thread. I'll pop up a list of which ones they were for interests sake when I get my laptop/ROM later.

are any of the 06-07 wrx guys logging their atomospheric pressure after the removal? i noticed one person had NO symptoms but the had problems reading boost or something.

I am getting a lot of conflicting info from the Subaru manuals and from people I've talked to. I am not so sure the atmospheric pressure sensor is in one of these valves now. The manuals imply that the valve with a pressure sensor is to read air pump pressure for air pump diagnostics, not atm. pressure. Also talked to people who have removed both valve and had no issues.

Has anybody with a 2007+ removed both valves (and pump) and checked their atmospheric pressure reading? It should be constant - about 14.7psi at sea level and around 12.2 psi up at elevations around 5000' (like here).
