is the knock correction advance from your log, matching the knock correction advance in the map?

the number logged is less than the number in the map.
i logged 4.5 knock correction advance @ 1.09 engine load/2500 rpm. it should be 9.84 according to the map if this doesnt make sense i can post a screenshot. |

If you don't mind, you can post up the log. What is your IAM at right now? |

If you want to look for knock, there are other ways.
1) If RomRaider can log the "knock sum" parameter for your ECU, log that. It increments every time the ECU thinks it heard knock. This is the easiest way. 2) If knock sum isn't an option, log IAM, Feedback Knock Correction (FBKC), and Fine Learning Knock Correction (FLKC). IAM and FBKC are pretty intuitive. FLKC is tricky though because when that parameter goes up, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have knocked at that moment - it can also mean (usually means) that you've entered an area where the ECU has learned that it should pull timing due to previous knock events. Logging knock advance would have the same problem, I suspect. |

Its alot easier to make the timing advance map the same value. That way, when you're doing a pull and logging the knock correction advance, when there's no knock, the value should be the same throughout that pull. If it drops, then that's where its picking up knock.

At least on my 08 WRX ECU the Knock Correction Advance is the IAM*Timing Advance Maximum. If the IAM is at 1 (or 16) the KCA should be the same as the value on the table (interpolating between nearest cells).
I also agree that is simplier to have the whole table with X value. To do that you can adjust Base Timing with the difference between the prior value of the Max Adv and X. |

The IAM is a percentage. In 16-bit ecu's its a fraction of 16. IAM of 8 = 8/16 or 50% of the advance is being added. In a 32-bit ecu its a fraction of 1. IAM of 0.5 = 0.5/1 or 50% of the advance is being added. Ideally, your car should be running at 100%. If its not then you have some other issues to address. Doing WOT pulls and trying to tune boost and timing does you no good at an IAM less than 100%. When you reset the ECU you need to get the IAM back to 100% before you can get useful logs. |
