Default New here and to Seattle

Hi there.

I'm new to Seattle and the NW and just wanted to say hello. I moved here from Boston back in July and I live in downtown Seattle.

I was instructing for a track day club back in New England called SCDA (http://www.scda1.com). I also used to teach at a defensive driving school
(http://www.driveincontrol.com/) part time as well. I would love to instruct and get some track time at some local clubs out here. I used to have my SCCA Comp License but that was a few years ago now. I'd like to get it again someday soon. After that I crewed for friends and there race teams, I've built quite a few race cars from the ground up and a lot of race engines as well. So if anyone in the area goes to track day clubs or SCCA events it would be cool to tag along and get involved. I'm looking to do another licensing school to get my comp license back as well, but would need to find a rental race car.

I have a mostly stock black 2011 WRX hatchback, love this car. All that's done is a downpipe and tune by my awesome friends back east at Dentsport Garage (http://www.dentsport.com/). Next mod is to put some STI brembos on it as the stock 11" brakes aren't up to track duty. My car still has the MA state plates on it so I should be easy to spot.

Before this car I had a 2007 MazdaSpeed3 that wasn't aging well at 90,000 miles on the odometer. I was looking to trade it when it got totaled by a drunk driver that crashed into when it was parked. I took the insurance money from that car and bought my subie. Best choice I made.

I'm going to attend some of the local meets pretty soon so I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow car guys.

Thanks for the bandwidth all.

-steve

The ridge motorsports park. Around a year old and is an amazing track. Located in Shelton but worth the drive.

Thanks. The DP and tune made a ridiculous difference, best bang for the buck! Can't wait to get some real brakes on this car though!

Shelton doesn't look far at all. Any track 3 hours or less is close, IMO. Do they run SCCA events or is it more of trackday/club track?

Haha. Too funny. I was just saying the other day how nice people out here are compared to back east. I sum it up as we live up to the Mass hole name a little too well sometimes. That made me crack up. Thanks!

Here's a pic of me instructing my friend at NHMS in his STI hatch with an STI sedan trailing.

Damn, I need to get back on the track...I miss it!

Welcome! I've been on both Pacific and the Ridge. By far the better of the two tracks is the Ridge. It is well worth the drive to Shelton, I've heard rumors of one final event on or around thanksgiving this year. You might check it out if you really want to get in some winter lapping.

Steve,
Nice ride and good choice on Seattle. I just moved back last week from Florida. Drove my 08 STi all the way here! Look forward to meeting you.

Thank you for the info, much appreciated! What trackday clubs have you run those tracks with? Curious to know as it seems there are several to choose from.

Adam,

Thank you for the warm welcome, it's appreciated. I was going to drive out here but I wanted to spend more time with friends and family back in Boston before I left so I just flew out and had my car shipped. Are you planning on going to this Wednesday night meet? --> http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2409940

Look forward to meeting you as well!

-steve

That's the loading dock at my apartment building in downtown. They have a water hookup in there and let us use it to wash our cars when the loading dock isn't reserved, which is pretty cool. It's quite convenient.

I suppose if there's peeps in the downtown area that want to have a car wash get together I would be down for it. We have a nice roof deck terrace with grills and such on the 11th floor.

Good to meet you last night Steve! I enjoyed learning about your speed3. I as well would be down for the car wash! My hose is in the front of my house and my driveway in the back, so I usually end up going to a self-wash Brown Bear.

Also wouldn't mind hitting a track for the first time once the weather gets better again!
