Post Bay Area tuners

Now that I have my RS (360 miles on it since saturday), I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for local tuners. I'm forseeing a new exhaust, AGX shocks, a short throw shifter, and so on... Does anyone have any experience with a local shop they can share?

Thanks!
dave.

Are you looking to buy parts or install them. Buy your parts from Teague's Auto, iSR and SPO. Installation is a whole different story, hehe.

heheheheh... I have no problem finding parts to buy. In fact, that's wayyy too easy. It's the installation that's the problem. Since I've had three shoulder surgeries in the past 18 months, I'm in no condition to do any work on my cars anymore. Maybe I should just take a trip down to SPD? Or is someone local willing to help me out for a fee?

What do you need to get installed? I can help you out, since I have done most of the Impreza upgrades at least 5 times, hehe. E-mail me at [email protected]

We are having daily install-fests at my house
so if Alex can't take care of you then come on over cuz there are NO shops in the bay area at this time that specialize in Subaru.
I have even talked about it with stevens creek and carlson and they say "no thanks",
market is too small.

Yeah, the dealer at Carlsen just gave me the crooked eye for merely mentioning tuning possibilities when I picked up my car. It's good to know there are some locals around that knwo what they're doing though, even if they don't actually run a shop. Is there really -no- market for a subaru tuner in the bay area? It seems as if every other person that goes up to Tahoe occasionally drives one...

Wasn't SPD or one of the other parts suppliers gonna open a store in south S.F.? I could swear that one of the companies sent an email to the list stating this. Apparently that didn't happen, otherwise someone would've chimed in already, I guess.

yeah, I could deal with South SF as well!! Right near my work

I find it hard to believe that there is no market in the Bay Area for a -single- Subie tuner shop, or even any other tuning shop to include Subaru. That said, I'll happily drive 500 miles or so to visit a shop that comes well recommended (yeah, like it's hard to get me to drive my car! )

If I had any more techincal skills, I'd consider opening a shop myself... It's always been a latent dream to have a tuning/vintage race prep shop.

Santa Cruz Subaru is into installs. Kind of a long drive (although it is scenic) but they are very highly rated...

Thumbs up

Just got done talking to Santa Cruz Subaru, and they sound like a very good dealer. I asked them about mods, and our warrenty and they said that they have no problem with them.....(unlike other dealers I have spoken to

Looks like I may be taking a long drive to get my Suby serviced

Cheers

Kewl thing about SCS is that they also service Mercedes-Benz's in their bays so you get MB service levels at Subie prices.

Bruce and Mark keep up with the aftermarket and are always a joy to work with.

Driving back to San Fran on hiway 1 after
getting your car back is always fun too...

I just found the club and since people here in Sac don't have any idea what an RS or any Subaru other than outbacks are, I'd be pretty interested in the ride too. Plus I grew up in SSF and San Bruno, so it would be a great way to get the friends and family I have there out of the house. Keep me posted if this actually happens.

Blue, baby, yeah!

Frog,

I'm in Elk Grove, pretty close to Sac. It's good to "meet" another Subie enthusiast around here. I'm currently saving up to buy an RS and have been trying to research potential Subie tuners out here. Not much. I used Trickspeed and Motorsport Dynamics for my hybrid Civic (which I've sold). Motorsport's Web site says they do Scoobys, but I haven't spoken to them about it.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble. Just wanted to introduce myself.
