Tri-State is a big place, can you be more specific about where you are and are willing to travel?
If you're in the downstate NY area around NYC/NJ, AZP is the place to go for both general service and mods. They don't tune in-shop but can recommend local tuners they work with.

Azp seems like an awesome place from what I have read, but their labor rates are very high. They quoted me $400+ for a short shifter install, meanwhile the dealer I bought the car at only charged me 1 hour rate of $130.

I'm new to Subarus but have owned other Japanese and Euro cars before and have never seen a performance shop that charges higher labor rates than the stealership.

i think there was some confusion on this quote as the one we quoted was not a simple 1hr shirt shifter install. I believe that it was one which required more than What could be accomplished in an hr. Our rates are set at 115/hr and thus was likely quoted off that.

My apologies for any confusion in what was quoted as we are typically one of the less expensive shops in the area.

That's the problem. You hear about Bren tuning a lot but that's about 4 hours away. I hear about precision and pro-com racing a lot but I've also heard bad things. It's hard to make a decision when you want to get tuned by the best possible person.....

He tunes at TheShopCT now. EFI uses Dotson tuning who used to tune for Cobb before.

This maybe a stupid question but can any of these shops rebuild a motor. Seems my Hawkeye has ringland failure. I've already replaced spark plugs, coil packs, maf sensor. Finally able to run a compression test and cylinder 4 is at 90psi.

Edit: I am located in throggs neck NY. The bronx.

Feel free to e-mail us and we can help. Generally it's less expensive to go with a shortblock replacement OEM.

I used Dave Brown. He tunes at a couple places, great tune, no knock Stage 3 E85 with killer B ELH. He did mine out of Performance Auto Solutions in Bohemia

Default Can you go into more detail about PAS?

How long did it take for them to tune your car, were they easy to work with?

+1,000,000+ for Rallispec...they use Labworxs now in South NJ Cherry Hill for their dyno tunes. Cleo at Labworxs , who has worked at IAG and Precision, tuned my car...they rock. Hell, they set a world record for tuning a McLaren a week or so before mine. I felt honored just to have them work on my car haha.

Rallispec did my ENTIRE build and then went to Labworxs for the dyno tune. Nothing but good things to say.

Prime Motoring in Wallington, NJ.

I got a a stage 1 IAG block there. The entire crew is knowledgeable and will to answer anything, even if you feel it's a stupid question, they will answer and not make you feel stupid.
