Lightbulb Tell me about your Dream Suspension Setup!!

give me some ideas, never mind budget, what would you get to overhaul/upgrade the handling of WRX?

I would like to spend around $2000 on coilover it self tho...

i was thinking the entire Cusco F/R strut braces, lower arm bar, f/r swaybars, camber plates, with STI lateral link and trailing arms.....

my dream setup would be to remove 200lbs from the front of the car

wide race tires
adjustable shocks
adjustable ride height
adjustable camber and caster

and I'll prolly be achieving all of these things, except the 500lbs of weight removal

I already have it. STi struts/springs/trailing/swaybar/lateral links, control arm and swaybar bushings, and Cusco front lower brace.

One part of me does wonder about adding DMS 50s to that equation, but not enough to do it...(yet).

Hello,

Are your STi struts adjustable? If not, have you tried a wrx with them?

thanks

My dream setup is to have a monkey at each wheel in place of the struts. I would also like to have a gorilla in the trunk to assist with weight distrobution when handling in corners.

Car stripped of that useless electrical stuff, soundproofing and HVAC.
Cage for stiffness and safety
Rebushed
Custom road racing suspension.
Front and rear Kaaz diffs.
Modify the steering.
Oh yeah, and a decent driver.

Modify the steering...hum, i would like to reduce amount of turn-to-lock. Stock is 3 turn to lock right? Could anything be done?

I'm happy with assorted Cusco bars, and an Ohlins coilover setup.

I'd like Cusco Co's, Braces and Swaybars. Whiteline Reinforced Swaybar mounting brackets and an Anti-lift kit. MRT rear links and Aluminum Fr. Arms.

Nope. When I heard that the softest setting on the STi adjustables is the same damping setting as the red ones, I said no way. I'd never turn them up!

For my L, I have a "purchased off the shelf" set up in mind:

DMS 50mm Race suspension
Adjustable camber/toe/etc. plates
Those 16"x7.5" light weight wheels (like 10lbs) i saw once with some racing slicks
Group N bushings all around
upgraded Engine/tranny/pitchrod/diff mounts
Cusco rear xmember (have already) and front xmember braces
Aluminum control arms (Possibly combined with whiteline ALK kit)
Cusco from strut brace and rear strut brace with V-bar
Cusco front/rear adjustable swaybars with those solid aluminum front endlinks (not the whitelines) and kartboy rear endlinks (have already)
Whiteline reinforced swaybar mount
MRT (does cusco have this as well?) adjustable front and rear control links and trailing arms
Front and rear lightweight bumber beams (~70lbs)
Remove all sound deadening material from the car (~100lbs)
Remove non-essentials from car (airbags, stereo, carpets, panels, speakers, A/C, ABS, etc. ~50-100lbs)
VERY lightweight seats (~40-60lbs?)

I'd include ohlins and some of the really fancy stuff like maybe some custom wheels ala the conebasher, but I like to keep it to off-the-shelf items and DIY stuff only

Did I miss anything?

From everything I've read, I'd drive over to a dealer, meet gtguy there, and say "see everything in his car? Put it in mine too."

Well, certainly if you're a comfort/handling nut as I am, my stuff might be a place to start investigating. But there's so much good stuff out there, it's just fun to play around.

Kostamojen, that's a SERIOUS setup you have in mind there. How close are you to fruition?
