Default static in speakers

hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else had problems with static in the speakers when the car is running? I installed a navi/dvd player in the car and now when I have the engine running there is a static noise, but when the engine is off the noise goes away. Any solutions?

Yeah, that's about right.

Ground loop, electrical noise, etc., could be anything ... did you do the install yourself? You could try rerouting wires, better grounds, shielding, or a million other tricks...

static or whinning? like accelerating noise?

most likely you need better grounds. make sure you sand the area down so it's BARE metal.

OR

your RCA cable might be too close to your power wire

OR

you need better RCA period. One of the three is likely the problem. I"d start with the grounds =) goodluck. If you can't get it, pm me and i'll see I can help ya further!

cheers
Justin

Lemme guess... does the whine of the noise increase as you rev the engine?

Ok the weird thing is that the noise decreases as I drive and only appears when I and between gears or in neutral. I will try to ground it better tomorrow and see.
