how to make an 08 look better
i want to buy an 08 WRX hatchback but i hate the clear tailights and that chrome piece running in between tail lights.... anything you can buy or do to cover that chrome plate running along the back making them look even more like a focus.....
one more question... people always say the WRX has a crappy second gear that breaks if you put a big turbo on... IE 20g turbo or bigger... true?

Get a bugeye, that will solve the first problem.
In that car, it's 3rd that's the weak one. It has little to do with the turbo, but has everything to do with the driver. A small turbo can just as easily break it as a larger turbo, because the torque hits harder. There are cars out there running 350-400whp on the stock transmission and haven't broken it, but there are retards out there at 230whp breaking gears. I have 300+ whp and have launched 50+ times and tracked it more than 30 times, and have yet to break a thing. |

there's an easy fix for the looks of the 08 WRX/STI.... buy an 02-07
& how long the tranny last depends mostly on the driver & how agressive you drive your car. There have been people breaking teeth on stock set-ups & there are some in here who are running 20g's on the stock tranny & aren't having any problems. It's hit or miss... |

i was one or those "tards" you speak of. i broke it on more than 230 whp though but i was being a asshat when i happened. jamming gears, aggressive down shifts, launching, ect. that night. never again. but my new tranny i treat better now but to the op, if you dont like the look then go for a older model/different body style, that way the money you saved you can invest in the stockmarket.... or the car |

Yep, as long as it's clean and tasteful. To the OP, for aesthetics I can't stand anything chrome on our cars. I don't like blacked out tails, but anything that comes on the car from the factory in chrome would, in my opinion, look better replaced. That's about the only recommendation I can make, as vague as it sounds. Springs/wheels/tires is the best starting point, it gives you a base for the rest of the exterior, and something to compliment. |
