Blow off valve for Legacy GT
My boss is buying a 2005 Legacy GT and he wants a Blow off Valve. I was wondering which models will fit. Ideally it would be like the Worx valve with recirculation to help prevent any problems.
Thanks. -Jason

1. ask him why.
2. if he wants a re-circ one, tell him not to bother. 3. tell him to go watch 2F2F 4. ??? 5. profit! |

iamrazor's got it nailed.
Unless the leg has a completly differnt BOV than the WRX then he is just wasteing his money. From what I have read the stock BOV is more than enough unless your running tons of extra boost and HP. So tell him to spend money on a sway bar or something. And if its just for the show see if he can get some NOS to spray like a bull as he is pulling up to the weekly street race (2F2F style). That would be M@3 tYt3 y0 |

why not look at www.legacygt.com to see what people are using. Look under the turbo section as well as vendors.

No need to get mad, I was just joking.
I think, that the Legacy folks are more about practical application and an more mature group in most cases than the folks in the WRX forum. As far as I know, the stock B.O.V. in just about any Turbo car you can think of is never a bottleneck in performance, so in general, it is considered a waste of money, so it is not appreciated or researched much here. Not to mention the fact that most of us here are stuck with N/A power. With that said, I was just in a Subie shop this last weekend. One of the WRX's being worked on must have had an aftermarket BOV. I have to admit, it did sound kind of cool. For the cost of a B.O.V. you should try to tell your boss to look into an intake or an exhaust. It will give his Subie the sport sound he is probably looking for, and a little more power to boot. |

But really almost all of us try to spend money on parts that really do something. All I was trying to tell you is maybe you should let your boss know he will be happier with an other part for the money. If he is new to Subaru's it is your duty to lead him down the right road or this place will start to turn in to: Quote:

Someone is working on an adapter plate over at legacygt.com that will allow the installation of an wrx BOV onto the legacy, or avoturboworld.com is selling one for $3-400. It's a 50/50 BOV so it should run well.

In the coming weeks, I will be getting him a CompuStar Alarm/Remote start 2 way with LCD remote. Thanks to everyone who helped out with my question. And sorry if I sounded a bit snappy but I'm usually used to my threads being handled with mostly maturity. -Jason |

I'd save the money from the BOV and get a catless up-pipe. The car really needs it!

Please note that they claim that WRX/STI up-pipes do fit perfectly, but downpipes do not directly fit. I read someplace that a vendor was developing a piece to extend sti/wrx downpipes to work on legacy gt applications within the last week...but then again most of us here are not 05+ legacy people, but are 04- people. fibuz takes your "mostly with maturity" and sticks it. |

I just bought one for my Outback XT. It's really silly- I liked having it on my WRX, but this car clearly isn't the same kiddie image. If people want to get the GFB one like I did, the best price I found was at subaruwrxparts.com

WRX and STI up-pipes will fit. Some wrx and sti downpipes will fit. However, making it fit will require either: adapter from Rally performance, custom adapter made in an exhaust shop and a BFH. There are different bends between the wrx and legacy so some downpipes will hit the firewall or transfer case, this requres modification of either the pipe or firewall (use BFH). To make things worse, some downpipes that fit the 5MT transmission will not fit the 5EAT transmission legacy (perrin).
