Default 2013 STi Tuned by Procom Racing - excellent!

Hey All,

So about 2-3 weeks ago, I started talking to Lou at Procom Racing regarding tuning my car. At that point, I decided that I wanted to tune it (despite there being 4k miles on my 2013 STi). He was one of the first people that I heard of in the tri-state area to get the new Cobb V3's in stock and I just couldn't resist. So I took the drive to Toms River, NJ (from Cherry Hill, NJ) to visit Procom Racing.

When I got there I was pleasantly surprised by all the Subarus at the place - it felt like home. I then met Lou (who was extremely nice and easy to deal with) and he explained that he was going to flash the car and tune it. He put the car on the dyno and I sat in their customer area, where you have a direct view of the car on the dyno along with a separate flat screen to show you the numbers the car is making and the dyno readouts. I thought this was really cool and something that I had not seen any other shop really implement. Now, on to the good stuff.

With a K&N drop in panel filter, a Tomei Expreme cat-back exhaust [the car was originally tuned with Nameless axleback deletes, as shown in the pic. it made 2-3 more whp and torque with the Tomei] and a Cobb V3, Lou was able to get some great power out of the car. On Procom's Mustang Dyno, the car made the following whp (numbers are corrected):

Sport Mode - 295 whp / 295 wtq
Sport Sharp - 305 whp / 315 wtq

Baseline was 280whp and 250wtq. I will post the dyno sheets but the numbers don't say it all. In sport sharp mode at 3500 rpm, I gained 95 lb ft of torque!!

After tuning the car, Lou showed me all the dyno run print outs, explained to me what psi he was running the car at and showed me all the features on the Cobb. Overall, I was super satisfied with the service I got there and further, the power my car made! I look forward to working with Procom in the future and going to them for all my Subaru needs. If you are in the NJ area and are needing a tuner/shop, this is your place!!

Can anyone else chime in with their numbers on a similar setup?

just saying, you bought 2 exhaust systems, and AP, then paid for a protune. and still make some less numbers then a WRX with a 150$ test pipe.

if you just got a cheap test pipe and tune youll be at 315-325 hp and 340-355tq and those are probably conservative numbers at about 17 psi w/no timing.

the set up is not much different then stock, im guessing you would see close to the same numbers just tuning or flashing from stock. so yeah im sure your tuner did everything he could safely do.

Please post charts of a wrx with a test pipe making those numbers.

I obviously thought of a downpipe but I do not want to put something on there right now that I really can't take off (without extensive effort) before I go into the dealer for any work. As I said in my original post, the car has less than 6k miles on it.

Glad you had a great experience with your tune. I went there for one of their "first friday" nights for the $40 dyno pulls. I currently am on an e-tune which has worked out great but when Lou told me my potential power gain I couldn't decline. I have a 2013 wrx, TBE, cobb sf, and ebcs, and was putting down 284/284 on their dyno. Just to give you a gauge. Im getting their protune friday :]

Wow, you made 305/315 with the stock downpipe on that dyno?

You going to the STI/EVO/GTR showdown at Englishtown?

Yea, could you post it up, it would be cool to look at. You'll gain a good chunk of power once you get the dp and tune done. I wanted to go to First Friday at Procom this week but I'll be down in Florida.
