Only two in Ellensburg? Will they both be 24hrs and on campus?

Considering there's already two "smoke shops" that sell "tobacco only" bongs and pipes, I can pretty much guess who's going to be applying.

I'd love to unwind legally with the stuff. Since I have a clearance I have to stick to fattening beer.

You guys have some great dispensaries down there. I always get paranoid though, going through that checkpoint on the 5... border patrol is federal I believe...

Assuming similar things are going on in Washington. .but in Colorado, there won't be any retail stores until at least January. I think they're a bit overwhelmed and are trying to balance out the inevitable market saturation while establishing a standard of quality.

Visited CO and the MMJ store was not happy when I asked.

I bet at least one of the four will go in to Roslyn, if it can get past the Bellevue transplant fuddy duddies. Roslyn is a long time hippie central.
Olympia just made an amendment to the moratorium on marijuana related businesses to allow these stores. Apparently they think medical marijuana dispensaries are more problematic than these state sanctioned stores will be.

we sure do. i have two friends that have a medical card and they always rant on how the quality is better than anything they used to get on the street.

If you already do smoke and plan on continuing, getting a medical permit is really the smartest thing you can do. Not only is the "shady factor" much reduced, but the access to quality is just mind blowing.

My dispensary here tests every strain and publishes numbers. It's really cool.

I'm always somewhat shocked how people who can't dependably add 2+3 and get 5 suddenly become very technical, detail oriented, and coherent when it's pot that's being discussed.

****ing stoners.

OMG so true. Also the inevitable "Who's smoked the best weed" argument. I think if I live in a place that has legal weed I am going to grow swag. Not everyone wants to be a zombie stoned out of their minds I would think. So maybe a market that just want to smoke a doobie like they did in the sixties.

If weed gets to be legal I'd smoke on occasion rather than drink alcohol. Unfortunately here in CT we only JUST in the last year or two made it legal to buy alcohol on Sundays, which tells me all I need to know about how quickly weed will be legal to buy here.

or you could just take a couple hits of really good stuff and not be zombie blazed. plus the taste of good stuff vs swag is like craft beer vs corona.

So true. I have a buddy who dropped out of high school. If you spend much time with him you realize just how dumb he really is, but he actually can learn.

Dude grows weed and knows everything about doing it. Tests the water, keeps temperatures right, keeps the lights at the correct height, etc

Another major hurdle will be funding to build/open/operate these store. Most banks wont even talk to you if you come in with a loan request that has anything to do with marijuana, no matter how legal it is.

Banks maybe not. But there are a lot of smart VC firms looking to get in on a billion dollar business.

I would love to do some VC type stuff with this around here but the laws around here will continue to be much stricter then they will out West. If it ever does become legal legal like it is our there it would be a smart business investment IMO...

I would think tobacco/big medical MJ companies would be all over opening up stores. Thus not needing loans to open up stores.

I'm really interested in seeing how it all works out. If it will be a boon to local economies, problems with DUIs/public intoxication, etc. I would think it should be similar to alcohol - some problems but bring in a ton of cash. Possibly increased tourism - much cheaper than going to Amsterdam.

Historically, wasn't it tobacco farmers that pushed to make weed illegal in the first place?

There IS tons of money to be made, its just that it's so new, and been illegal for so long that it carries a huge stigma that keeps all but the most forward thinking entrepreneurs from taking the leap to make the infrastructure happen. Keeping it safe, and legal, and not ruffling some soccer mom's jimmies requires a huge amount of planning and care, and money.

I'm all for legalized weed, even though I've never done it.

Alcohol and Tobacco lobbyists have/had been one of the biggest hurdles in getting reformation laws passed. It will be interesting to see if they do a 180 on their stance on all this once they see the money the money that can be made and how much they will be losing...
